I was told that the TJ changed the top in 03..I have a 05 what softtops will fit

Yes, in 03 the color changed from denim black to diamond black.
In addition to that (and someone correct me if I am wrong) a few minor things changed such as the door surrounds.
However, any soft top will still fit your 05 from 97-06. The changes they made didn't make things incompatible as I understand it, they were just improvements / tweaks to the design.
