Someguys 04

well things have taken a turn for the worse. after my last post i got put on OT at work with a special project on the robots and it beat me down bad. i've made like 11000 parts in the last few months at a beast pace with heavy pieces and its ruined me.

my back started really bothering me after this last round of the rona, i've had issues for yrs so not really a big deal but its gotten so much worse now. about mid march i stared loosing control of my left leg with random regularity, it cuts out on me and i fall down. it just goes dead......by by, nothin there, cant feel it, cant move it. it can take from few seconds to a couple minutes for it to come back.
then about mid april i pulled something in my mid back, felt like i had broken my ribs. after a month of not much sleep [couldn't lay flat] i finally went and got checked out...................
straight away they sent me for an MRI that has revealed 5 bulged disks, 3 of which are herniated badly and several nerves being pulled and crushed. i'm wrecked bad from T11 all the way down to L2.
ain't been able to do much of anything.... reserving all i got just to make it to work [can't not have an income], but i come home every day almost unable to even get out of the truck after the ride home.
have to go see a neurosurgeon next wk...............and though i'm a grown ass man i'm scared to be cut. 1 wrong move and i could be worse off forever.

jeeps not even made it out of the garage this yr yet and IDK if it will

Sorry to hear about your back. Back issues are no fun. I have degenerative disk disease, so I can empathize, a little. Your situation sounds like some of it is work related, even if its only 50%....best file the paperwork now because if you go in for surgery, you'll for sure be off work. Your employer will have insurance to cover workers comp so you'll have some income to get you through.

ha, they take no responsibility and would fight me. besides i'm not interested in state funded trash.....comp sys here protects the company not the worker. all they'll do is claim there's nothing wrong with you. their doctors work for who butters their bread, not us ...been there done that and never again. that's part of the reason i'm where i'm at now.

we have no current employees with comp claims ..........if u try you're not employed anymore.

i have decent insurance and the company will even help pay some of my low end costs b4 ins. start pickin things up. they even offer a disability compensation for up to 6 months if i need it.......... that i do not have to repay.
i haven't taken advantage of it yet so i know it's there when i really do need it.

on a side note....i still haven't given up on my project......can't work on it right now but it's not forgotten and i'll continue to plan until i know i cannot. got some good equity in my 2020 Ram thinking about selling it off along with the trailer. this would ease my monthly money outflow without that truck payment while i go through this issue.

Rubihara 300 something is for sale locally........... been thinkin bout it alot. only got about 80k on it iirc, kinda really wanna go get a peek a it.
been thinkin about changing my plans to a ramp truck for haulin the rig and just get me a TJ for a daily driver. got over 10k equity in the truck and could fetch 2500 for the trailer easy. been lookin for the right cab n chassis to start with, some newer but i almost like the idea of makin 1 from an older truck. somthin that looks cool too.

we'll have to see what life is about to feed me.

slow go due to my current condition but i'm trying to clear the garage enough to attempt to get the room to start working on things again. the garage roof took some damage during some harsh winter wind storms, that needs fixed 1st.
have to see the neurosurgeon on the 7th...it's comin up quick and im dreading what the outcome might be. but the chiro is keepin me moving for now.

Take it slow and do what they tell ya to do. My back keeps giving me grief which kills my leg.

well i got in to see that neurosurgeon. she claims there is to much damage to try and guess where the exact problem might be and i'm gonna have to have another exam. she's gonna send me to a specialist that'll basically fire my nerves and try to find the short. problem is that unless it occurs while testing they may not find it.
the biggest issue is still the same as the last time i went to have this looked at.........they look at me like i'm crazy that my leg fails me but i'm not doubled over in agony. the doctor says that the damage is not herniations but major bone spurring. real bad from T11 to my tailbone. the MRI shows scoliosis in the low back due to long term muscular overcompensating.
so basically i'm stuck right now until i get in to see this next doctor.

i gave the neighbor kid 20$ and got him to carry my roofing material up onto the garage for me. it hurt me but i got it done and the jeeps got a dry place to slumber for now. and i finally got into the jeep, it's been buried with crap stored for winter in my tiny little garage. the trickle charger took a dump at some point and the battery is toast so that's the next project when i'm able.

Hang in there buddy. My doctor keeps telling me that they want to wait and see is new procedures or technology improves before they go in to work on my back. Mine isn't as bad as yours sounds but I have my days where it flares up and I can't do anything. Most times I'm only down for a day or two but sometimes it's 4- 5days. And I still have some GOOD pain pills for when it's really acting up.

Hope they get it all sorted out soon for you.

I hope the test will help in diagnosing the problem. Nerves and back pain are a tricky thing to figure out. I spent five years after my left hip (right hip was replaced the previous year) replacement trying to figure out what was causing the back pain. X-Ray's, MRI's, EMG Tests plus others I have forgotten about.

Finally spinal injections worked for about a year, then they did not help at all. October 2021 they opened me up and performed a laminectomy and fused me with 4 rods and 6 screws from L4 to S1 because my spine was not stable.

I truly hope you can find an answer and relief from the pain. Dealing with the pain everyday sucks. Keep pressing on for answers and ask questions and other opinions. It will take sometime but you will get better.

Man that sucks. I don't know much about this. I work with a guy with multiple herniated discs, it sucks for him sometimes and lays him out others, but he's also able to do 7 day trips camping on a road bike at other times. So hopefully theyll figure it out. If they don't see it on the first test, it's not the end of the world I hope? You just go back until they do. The unknown is the worst

Sorry to hear things are still bad, fingers crossed you can get some progress after the next specialist and all the best from the UK.
