Southeast states ice storm

Probably not the right place for this, but that was a wide band of ice storms that came through North Mississippi up through Nashville, Tennessee, and every little town and community in its path.
It put these places almost to a complete halt no electricity no water no heat unless you had gas for thousands of people.

I flew all the way to Huntsville for a training class. I got all the way through the empty parking lot to find out the class was cancelled (and nobody bothered to tell me before I flew across the country.)

Couple folks asked me how I managed to get a rental economy Nissan shit box all the way through town...mind you it was 14 and blowing a little ice...but the roads were clear and dry...I just told them one of my many hobbies is snow wheeling in Oregon in my Jeep.

Were here in central KY. It looks as if we missed the worst of it according to the local news. Ive lived in OR, AZ and NM at 7K+ elevations. The snow was great IMHO but this ice bit sucks. Im guessin its gonna be around for at least a couple weeks before it even starts to melt. Thank God were headed back to AZ in a couple months.

We got lucky here in the middle of NC. 5 days out they had my area pegged for 8 inches of snow or more to be followed by freezing rain. I was excited for the snow, but not for the predicted ice. That snow/freezing rain line drifted north of us and what we actually got wound up being a layer of sleet and freezing rain, then about 1-2 inches of powdery snow (I've never seen powder snow like that), followed by another short round of sleet and freezing rain. It wound up being really good for sledding and it wasn't too slippery. No power outages and minimal disturbances. 2 days later it's almost gone, making a bunch of black ice at night, but that's pretty typical around here.

20" of snow where I live came down Sunday and they're predicting a nor'easter this coming weekend. Most kids went back to school Tuesday, thankfully.

Its been dropping down close to freezing in our part of Florida - I had to tell our daughter to make sure the heat was on, not the A/C! Ran into a guy here in Cairo who has been stuck here for 4 days because he couldn't fly home to Dallas, he's finally outta here today.

not in the southeast, but here in Pennsylvania we got flogged pretty good, though we dodged a bullet somewhat in that the predictions ranged as high as 17+ inches with a nice crispy coating of 3/10ths of an inch of ice to cap it all off.

In the end we got 7 inches and the freezing rain never materialized thankfully, that would've turned the snow into concrete. What we got in its place was a few hours of sleet after the snow ended which made the snow on the ground heavier, but, that crap just bounces off of trees & power lines so we had nothing come down and no power losses in the area. PENNDOT had the roads clear and drivable by Monday, still took the day off to clear my driveway & pull some off my porch roof to reduce weight. That was a barrel of monkeys.

Somewhere around 16 inches here in southern CT. This used to be somewhat normal but i think folks have forgotten with all the mild winters we have been getting. Not sure where they're gonna put all the snow we are gonna get this wekeend though...

Are y'all in a lizards-falling-out-of-trees area? I have family down in the Miami area and they don't even have heat in their house, which is fairly common down there, as are lizards falling out of trees when they get cold.

Holy crap, below freezing and 100% humidity?!? Does that mean the air is frozen?
