It's more accurate, you can re-gear again and not have to buy another gear and you can us it on a Rubicon transfer case.

Does it stay installed 24/7 or is it plug in program and unplug leave on workbench?

It’s pretty much plug n play. You just calibrate to your size tires.

Changing the plastic gear can get you close but you could still be off a couple mph from what I’ve heard.
