So after further testing my spider is the problem that's the second one i broke in the past year is it just time for a better axel or could something else be going wrong to cause my spider gear to break.... I no lockers are a waste on stock axels but what is my best option to drive it just replace spider gear again? I'm running a 3.25 suspension lift with 33s witch the stock axel should hold but look for any an all suggestions. Thank u

I guess how you drive is the question. And who is replacing them? Improper setup can be at fault.

Do you have a rear Dana 35 or 44? Or are you referring to the front axle?

It may be easiest just to replace the carrier. Unless you have a V8, ridiculous gear reduction, and a lead foot, it is very unusual to be breaking spider gears regularly.

You can install lockers with some work on any axle. A Dana 44 could be done with minimal additional modifications. A Dana 35 could be done with a Super 35 kit for not too much more money. A Dana 30 can be done on its own or with a Super 30 axle kit.

If you have to replace the carrier, this would be a very good time to do so. (This is also a good opportunity to regear if you are planning on it.)

I replaced it the last time. I drive it pretty easy on the road but it hits moderate trails on occasion nothing to crazy just puddles and woods trails in New England.

It's a stock 06 tj with a D 35 and yes it's the rear

So you could try replacing the spider gears, but it's possible there's something else causing the breakage. Perhaps the carrier is warped or damaged. In your case I would replace the carrier.

What kind of differential fluid are you using?

If you do want to add a locking carrier, consider a kit like this:
https://www.4lowparts.com/shop/super-35-rear-axle-kit-eaton-e-locker-Dana 35-30spl/That will make your axle comparable in strength to a Dana 44 and be more than enough for 33 or even 35 inch tires.

Of the locking carriers available for the Dana 35, the Eaton Elocker and ARB air locker are both very strong and reliable. The Eaton simply requires a wired in switch, whereas the ARB requires compressed air to operate.
