I have a Currie 4" lift and Savvy TT in the closet ready to go in. I am trying to forsee as many problems as I can and resolve them while i have the axles out for gears. I will be installing a Currie rear track bar and angled bracket, as well as a DC rear drive shaft. I have a 241 TC.

I was planning on running the Rancho shocks to start. But can buy something else if it makes any of these problems less annoying.

1. I assume the shocks will hit the coil buckets in the rear when the pinion angle is turned up. Will it be less of a problem on an LJ? Between clearance the bucket, adding new shock mounts, or using a relocation bracket, what is the correct solution here?

2. I know the rancho 5000x cannot be run upside down. Can the 9000 be run upside down? Would this help with clearance?

3. What is the consensus on shock options that offer the correct fit? I don't want to get into ride quality, but searched extensively, and there is just bickering. I need to pick a shock, and not sure what to choose. No cureent plans to outboard.

Tried searching extensively.

Thanks!

Clearancing the spring bucket is easiest. Extended brackets are also easy but I think they probably stress the welds a little more. I've done this for several years without issue though.

IDK re the 9000. It does help with clearance. The body will still have to pass the bucket with compression, but at that point in the travel it has moved away from the bucket slightly because geometry.

I really like my Skyjacker blackmax shocks in the rear because they can be run inverted for clearance, they are soft (not harsh) and inexpensive. That last point makes them good to try in your situation since you are not out much if they don't work or you don't like the ride.

Clearancing the bucket is much better than the relocating brackets

Shock relocation brackets reduce up travel by raising the lower mount. Generally they is not desirable.

Is a shock flip generally needed, or would it be preferable to clearance more and run the shock body down?

Whatever the shock needs to fit properly. Mine is outboarded all around, so cutting the lower spring seats is something I wouldn't think twice about.

You are right. I tried them first but they made my shocks the wrong length. Pictures were taken during process of removing brackets and notching buckets

Thanks,

Are you running a tummy tuck? Was this amount of cutting enough to eliminate contact?
