I'm going to kind of include both my trips from last Sunday and today. Sunday my husband and I did the Spruce Creek Loop. It is basically a dirt/gravel road and has little trails off of it. Here is our route we took.

First stop was where they keep the snow plow. Hubby convinced me to go up the mound of gravel.

Before we got to the loop we went down this really windy steep road. It was so steep I had to put it in 4lo to let my brakes cool off. It lead to a powerhouse.

We found this waterfall not far from the beginning of the road. I'm thinking it will be a great spot to park the bus and camp. :D

Then it was off to the loop.

Stupid question, but what do the numbers mean on the sign?

We stopped at the hole in the mountain on the way back home so I could get a couple pics of what is in front of the hole. It is well built and so at one time someone put some work into it. Today after I got home I was checking my Geocache app to see what geocaches were in the area and one was hid there (going to look for it the next time I go), in the description it says that it was an old gold mine from around the 1800's. It is obvious someone has been doing something way after this as the bath tub that is in the side of the mountain is to new to be 1800's. LOL

Today I took my Mom with me. We went to see if we could find the look out tower. I can see it on the map, but we couldn't get to it. It must have been out of service for a long time, the manzanita has really grown over the road to where you can't even make it out anymore. I'm standing on the last part of the road and this is what I see. No way to go on.

This is trail my Mom and I took. It is the red line. The purple was my husband and I on Sunday. You can see the tower icon at the bottom left corner. You can also see the red line where we had to stop. Still a long way to it.

We had a good time trail riding and got pretty hungry. :D On the way back we stopped at a little side of the road cafe.

It was taco Tuesday so that is what was on the menu. LOL She serves something different everyday and what she serves is what you get. The tacos were really yummy! I would recommend the place, but I suggest getting your food and going outside to eat. Because she is just a small little place and I don't think she has to abide by any of the health orders, she has dogs, the place kind of smells of dog when you walk in. We took our food out back and it was nice and shady.

As you can see from my two maps, there are a lot more places to go explore. :D You can also see on some that I don't quite get to the end of some. These are the areas we had to turn around do to a fallen tree. I'm thinking maybe by the time Fall comes around maybe someone will get the gumption to clear the paths. LOL Me myself, will find another trail to explore before I work that hard. LOL

Wow, that looks like a fun trip!

I swear, the best wheeling / adventure spots are on the west coast it seems.
