In the market for 15" wheels and want the black classic 8 hole look. I've found them in both steel and aluminum alloy and costs are considerably different. What are the pros/cons?
Since this will be my 16 yr old sons who has aspirations to do light off-road but no rock crawling. What kind of wheeling are you going to be doing?
In that case, I would go with aluminum because they are lighter.Since this will be my 16 yr old sons who has aspirations to do light off-road but no rock crawling.
Whereas steel wheels will bend upon impact, while alloy wheels will break, not bend.Steel is heavier, worse damage if wheelin and a rock hits it, more prone to rust
For the road only steel is fine, but if you go off-road, you’d want an alloy
That's right ..... and you can repair a bent rim some what in the field to get you home .... but not with a broken alloy wheel.Whereas steel wheels will bend upon impact, while alloy wheels will break, not bend.
nothing implied incorrectly and thanks for your replySorry if Kiddo sounded condescending at all, that was not my goal.
Nice rig!My 2006 TJ has had Alloy wheels since I upgraded from the OEM Wheels back in 2006 I have yet to crack them. I have done everything from water, mud to rocks you can find here in the east from South Florida to WindRock TN plus obstacle course in shows like Jeep Beach. Have had my front up in the air bumping over an obstacle at JeepBeach no issues with them at all.
Here is my fron't up in the air after a hard bump climbing over the concrete steps
