I too missed the VR8 sale (had my order get canceled) and I just put this winch on. Despite all the comments knocking Smitty I had zero issues with the packaging or fit and finish. Fired right up to to pull my TJ up the driveway to tighten the cable.

Ill actually be ordering the Smittybilt and replacing the cable with a syn rope from TRE lol. I see all these cheap winches with Syn rope (sub $400) and wonder how long they will last. My Brother in law has a orcish 13k syn rope winch on his XJ I guess we'll see how long it lasts.

Yeah I had planned on a TRE synt later, though I might wait until the steel died.

I have seen too many horror stories with cable to use it now that Syn rope is a mainstream thing. not to mention i dont want to risk my wife or daughter getting hurt since they will be with me when I go wheeling more than not.
