Ok so this is my first summer with my Jeep and it’s awesome, top down, long drives and music up....the problem I’m feeling is not enough sound behind what I have already in it. I’m running a pioneer head unit w/ all weather Polk speakers that a buddy of mine suggested. Now I’ve been thinking about adding 2 8” subwoofers and an amp. I’m not looking for Competition sound just something with a little more behind it. What I’m asking is does anyone have any suggestions on what they have put in there TJs. I’ve been researching just looking for ideas...

I run a 10” Alpine sub with DD audio amp, Sony head unit, and an Alpine power pack and i love my sound because its clear clean and plenty loud even when im buzzing down the highway.

#1 If you plan on adding a sub(s) be prepared to lose all of your trunk space and when buying an amp get a small one that can suit your subs because the best place to install would be under steering column that way its out of harms way.

#2 Adding a sub will give great improvement to your sound but it will make everything else sound dead. So I strongly urge you to buy a head unit power pack. It will make your sound 10x better. Before I got mine I was very disappointed because I had bought all new speakers and they were just underwhelming

I originally ran a 5 channel amp and a kicker 10" sub but that took up all my cargo space. I have since then removed the 10" and installed 2 Kicker Hideaway sub's under my back seat. More thump than a 10" and I got my cargo area back.
Current setup is a double din Sony head unit, Alpine 4 channel amp, Kicker 5.25 speakers in the dash, JL Tweeters in the foot wells, kicker 6.5's in the sound bar and the 2 self powered 8" sub's under the rear seat. I can get pictures if you like.

They sell micro 4 channel amps as well. My plan is to run one of those and a micro mono amp. Crutchfield has them for decent prices.

That would be great. At least I can get an idea before I just jump into something...

I've gone through numerous audio upgrades and finally found what is ideal to me, with my top off on the highway I can hear the music perfectly, and that also includes a louder exhaust (Banks).

I went with a 7 channel fully active system using two amplifiers and a combination of Polk, Helix and Kicker speakers. The tweeters were relocated to the a-pillars which was a huge upgrade.

Another forum member had a great idea, @cliffish recommended the below inline tweeters for $20. Those used in combination with your four speakers and new 8" subs, plus a 6 channel amplifier will give you a great boost. I say 6 channel amplifier because you wanted two 8" subs with the standard four speakers, or possibly 6 speakers with the inline tweeters.

5 channel amplifier for one subwoofer.

Unfortunately you will not find an inexpensive 6 channel amplifier, so using a 4 channel and 2 channel would be less expensive.

Do the kicker hideaways fit under the seat without mods?

Thank you for all the info...once I decide the layout that will determine what I plan on buying. Not too much space in the back so I’m hoping to come up with a good game plan. Especially to build the custom box.

What's exact model of this KICKER - Hideaway?
One showed up near me in Facebook marketplace for $120 and I feel it's good price.
Guy says it's new and I'm in need of sub.

Ok so I finally decided to upgrade all around with polk water proof dash and sounder speakers. Than I ended up installing a 1000 watt planet audio amp with 2 skar audio 8" subs in a sealed box. The box was small enough to fit behind backseat. I still need to secure box to floor and build custom top to keep it fully safe and water proofed. let just say after I listened to the clarity going down the road and still hearing some decent bass I am impressed. Now the top is on and WOW these 8" subs hit pretty hard. Cant wait to get the full install done.

I am about to add a dual 10" subbox to my system. I found THE plug n play subwoofer that pairs perfectly with my amplifier at an audio shop who had it stored in a back room. Scored a great deal and now I get to try it out. So pumped. If anyone ever wants to upgrade to a higher quality system, Audiotec Fischer's lineup is pound for pound the best audio gear out there.

Match is thier entry level
Helix is mid grade
Brax is high end
