Just starting off, I know nothing about vehicle stereos…. Yet! That’s why I’m here. What should I do my to 97 TJ to improve sound quality such as Radios, Speakers for sound bar as well as front, subs, tweeters. I’m not interested in removing the back seats for Stereo so let’s keep suggestions to the stock locations!

I would start off by replacing the lacking front 4x6 speakers with 5.25 speakers using the cheap adapter. This is the first start. Then, you can polyfil the rear of the front speakers to bring them out even more, using just enough polyfil to balance them with the rear 5.25's. Thereby giving you a perfect quadrophonic sound system.

You also need to decide whether you want to stay with a single DIN or go to double DIN with a touchscreen and tons of bells and whistles.

Doesn’t really answer your question, but I enjoy the double din CarPlay. I am able to see the onX maps on it which is great. I have speakers sitting in the garage waiting to be installed.

Stereo was easy to replace. I ordered from Crutchfield, everything i needed was shipped.

You can also go with a single din with all the bells and whistles, using a single din installation kit into your 1-1/2 din that will look totally professional, and have a larger screen that will move out of the way, and almost be flush, like mine, and, you don't have to cut up your original dash. Replacing those parts when the double din fails, can cost hundreds and hundreds of dollars now. My screen is also removable for theft prevention. You normally can't do that with a double din.

How do you like this setup? I thought about getting this style but wasn’t sure if id like it sticking out. And while they need the entire radio was wondering if someone might just detach the face and take it.

It is awesome. If you are in an area where you worry about your stereo, just take the screen with you. I brought a padded shoulder bag for $20 to carry mine. No thief will steal a stereo without a face or screen. There is no profit in it. No one will buy a stereo without a screen or face to control it. A thief won't steal it, because no one will buy it, and the thief won't waste his time and money trying to acquire a screen for $100 plus. A stolen stereo is only worth that much maximum alone. So, there is zero profit for the car stereo thieves drug fix. In my life, I've suffered at least 4 attempts to steal my car stereo. Two were successful. In one of them, I found bullets and a crack pipe left in my car(before I got my Jeep). My knowledge has led to no car stereo thefts in my Jeep. *the dog has spoken*. lol.
