So, the new (to me) jeep has a stock radio in it with a CD player, but no USB or audio inputs. I would like to upgrade to one that does - any suggestions for radios that would fit the default dashboard of the 06 Wrangler X?

I'm old school kinda - the radio is for music but want to be able to play off a USB stick or my phone (Bluetooth or audio jack)

You could easily get away with spending less than $100 then. On mine, the $360 one, it does that plus anything from the android market... Like Netflix, Pandora, and Google Navigation.
Good to know...so I guess the other part of my question is how to find a radio that fits in the dash without having to use an aftermarket adaptor kit or anything like that - a few people mentioned the DIN size for my year/make/model is at either 1 or 1.5 - but I don't know wth a DIN size even is! (A little mechanically clueless here...first time jeep owner, and never been all that mechanical with vehicles beyond changing a tire, brake pads, and spark plugs on a 1998 Escort... o_O

It's just the size, a standard stereo is a single DIN. Our stock size is 1.5. The kits to fit a single DIN stereo are super cheap. You can get everything you need from Amazon for über cheap.

So I took a closer look at the stereo currently in there and am thinking it's not stock, has a CD player and such. It's making me wonder if this is a 2 DIN unit...any thoughts here?

That's stock, and a single DIN fits with an adapter. I'll upload a photo of mine.
