Stuck in 2nd gear

Have a 06 lj with 4.0 auto. It gerts stuck in 2nd gear. And i have to disconnect the battery. After a couple minutes.i'll reinstall the battery terminal and it will shift properly. Its making me nuts. Doesn't happen all the time.any ideas?

The 42RLE tranny goes into limp mode (second gear) when something is wrong. Instead of disconnecting the battery, try pulling the codes.
