Summit seat foam review

Yes.. Driver side only. Neither my wire nor daughter care for the Jeep much. And, that's being nice about it. Didn't see the value in replacing the passenger side.

All of the above. Oddly, with the risers in I was feeling the lumbar pillow was incorrectly positioned. Maybe the pillow moved in its pocket or maybe it's me that's repositioned now that risers are out, but the pillow is spot on now. I had some really nice aftermarket Recaro's in my old Audi and the TJ seat now has a similar feel. Even the back side bolsters feel better.

The B&M shifter is still my number one comfort mod, but the seat cushion is number two with seat warmers bring up the third position.

It really seems to me that the summit foam really does do wonders for the relationship with even the stock back curvature.

I’ve had some mismatched seat variations that bugged me as well...

Then I realized it made it easier if lower for her to get in it if she ever would-

Also cars with very adjustable seats you’ll see all kind of variation because of different drive/passenger combinations

Also if they’re uneven when the jeep is not occupied they are instantly even when you sit down or close to it-

It’s sort of like your sinuses the more you pay attention to them the worst they bug you-

-you know it’s really a very interesting point and more we focus on things the more mental space we give them or the bigger they become

Personal Derail- All of my adult life I have struggled to keep my head on straight- I started adult life inherently positive as a default mood and let drinking mess that up.....then at 25/26 started over with a new lease on life and let the pressure to catch up, ambition and business stress take a toll- it took a while- now at 57 I’m working attentively to become a human being again. Not a texting order giver who lives in his head.

I’m baring my soul a little for the benefit of others as well as myself.

As someone who’s not a fan of the stock seats, and has been considering retrofitting JK/JL seats, this thread has peaked my interest.

The lower back positioning is the worst part of these seats, and this foam sounds like it fixes it.

Personal feel varies-like with shoes.

Its worth $89 to try is my take.

I am over trying to see how much money I can throw at one of these- One of our members who has a good head on his shoulders (@tr21triton)was really blown away with the change so that got my interest up- also I started looking on line ...noticed the reviews were consistently very positive.

When you have the material in your hands you’re not gonna be able to tell much- But once you do the change and sit down you will immediately be sold. And your old foam will also give you a better in hand comparison.

They succeeded in give you a feel that takes no getting used to, feels firm but comfortable and makes the rig much more enjoyable to drive. In no way does the the new foam feel “foreign” to you.

As humans we will acclimate to you about anything- You’ll appreciate the feel when you get in the rig later but for me that has become a given- it is my back position I notice now - and I really like it. Feels posture correct.

For us guys who did one seat we could not wait to keep going- For example my buddy has an LJR And I have 2 rigs- We did one seat and we were hooked.

It is a must do mod for me now.

Well you have me convinced.

Ordered driver’s side foam, heater and bushings.

Best I can share is just concentrate on being present and always have good intent... Everything else kind of falls in place.

Oh, and smile a lot. Crazy how much that helps.

Ordered driver’s side foam, heater and bushings.

You had to go and mention the bushings.

Just like that I find the snapped seat bushing on the drivers floor mat. And it's the inside one. It couldn't break the day BEFORE I had the seat out to do the cushion? or on the OUTSIDE?

Good stuff really. Feeling can follow action as well as the other way around. Good post.

Found out the platform
of the seat will remove from the base- 4 -13mm bolts and game on-

It does make installing the covers a lot easier- and more precise-You don’t have to handle the heavy seat or deal with the back upper being in the way

I wish you posted this 2 weeks ago instead of this weekend. I finished doing my son's TJ on Thursday. It would have been nicer to just deal with just the seat.

Luckily, when I did my son's seats, I replaced the bushings at the same time. I feel your pain though.

Had my driver seat "redone" by an upholstery shop a few years ago and it was okay. Last Thursday I installed the Summit seat foam, and what a difference. Yes, it matched up well, and made the seat back more comfortable. Well worth the money and time.

I installed these last weekend. Its actually crazy the height difference. I went from being able to see the front 3 inches of the hood to practically being able to see all of it. I have 1" risers too and I think i'll keep them installed. I'm 5'8" and like the view from up here. Took me a few days to find the right seat position to work the clutch. Moved the seat forward more than I'd had it before and its a nice improvement. Firm but comfortable; I'm very pleased with this upgrade.

I installed the Dorman seat heaters under the factory covers while I was in there. It will be a while before I have time to run the wiring. Looking forward to that this winter.

Just installed the Summit foam, bushings and Dorman heater on my driver's seat.

I have to say I'm quite pleased, the foam is absolutely worth the $89.99. It's firmer, in a good way. The biggest improvement for me, as Andy mentioned, is the change in the lower back position. It's finally cuddled by the seat, which was my biggest complaint with the stock seats, and I predict this will be a welcome improvement for longer trips. It has also muted the post-Savvy UA vibes somewhat.

With 1.25" risers, I'm now sitting too tall, and I'm 5'11" (I think). Might try cutting the risers in half, before removing them completely.

The bushings did not remove the seat wobble as much as I thought they would. Need to do some more investigating to find the source of my seat's wobble.

I am the same height and also had the 1.25" risers. Went back forth for about two weeks trying to decide whether to keep them, cut them or ditch them. I am now going on week two or three with them out. I can't foresee going back to them. No need.

After replacing both my TJ fronts,I ordered new foam from The Seat Shop in Texas for my wife’s 2014 Grand Cherokee.
It arrived today and I couldn’t help myself. I installed it and am now somewhat of a hero in our house 😊.
GC has 142,000 on it and the seats were marginal at best. What a difference a piece of foam can make.

This thread came up at the perfect time. I recently picked up an 04 LJ with a wonky flattened driver’s cushion. I ordered the summit replacement and am blown away by the difference. Wish I’d have done this on the last 2 TJ’s. I can’t overstate how much of a difference it has made. Now I need to order a passenger cushion as well. 10/10 highly recommended.

Wish I’d have done this on the last 2 TJ’s.

I wouldn't feel too badly about those Jeeps, Summit just started selling these in March... ;)

The bushings did not remove the seat wobble as much as I thought they would.

Surprised to hear this. I was leary of them when I purchased, but so far that bushing kit has cleared up a number of issues that ended up being related on my LJ.

did you remove it from the seat frame while it was still bolted down in the jeep or is it just inside for the picture ???

Anyone else get a defective foam? The one on the left is like a Swiss cheese. Very porous, more yellow and glittery and noticeably less firm than the other. I may have to return it.
