Hubby surprised me on Sunday and suggested that we take the Jeep for a drive. This is the first time since I have owned the Jeep that he has gone off roading with me. He usually works 24/7.
We went to Foresthill, then went down Mosquito Ridge road. He was originally going to take me to some places he use to hunt, but when we got past the power house ( not sure of the name of the road it sits on. I tried to look on an internet map, but it doesn't show a name), we got to a bunch of big boulders and rocks. At first I thought that this was where he wanted to go and wanted me to 4 wheel over these big boulders, and I was like Uhhhh? I don't think so... LOL. Well come to find out, it was actually a land slide and the road continued on the other side of it. No way to get to it though. Not even in 4 wheel drive. LOL
You can barely make out the road just past the landslide in this next pic.
Just a pic of the river.
Of course I had to take a couple pics of the Jeep.
We left there and went to check out the raft launch spot.
Here is a pic of the power house from the distance. You can kind of see the landslide and the road on the other side.
Moving along, we found a trail called Little Oak Flat.
Ran into a few trees here and there but for the most part we were able to go around them. Only had one spot we had to actually turn around.
After that we found a dirt road that lead to Grouse Falls Trail. I thought it was a trail we could drive down, but once we got there, it was a hiking trail. Needless to say, we didn't hike it.
On the way to the first spot, the power house, I saw a small hole/cave on the side of the road. So on the way back we stopped to check it out. Wasn't brave enough to go in, but we may have to go back with flash lights and see about going in. I don't know what it was exactly, on the side of the road where you can park there is a nicely made rock wall. One could actually park up on it if they wanted too, in fact my hubby said it would make a neat spot to camp if it wasn't so close to the road. It also had a bath tub that was put into the side of the mountain. I didn't take pics of all that, but now I wish I would have. Maybe one of you would recognize the area and know what it is all about. Here are the pics I did take of the hole. There is a cinder block just inside the hole too, it appears to have been placed there for a step.
Pic of the Jeep from the area hubby thought we could park the bus and camp.
From there we came home. It was a great drive.
