Hi! I have a 2006 TJ and I’m looking to upgrade the suspension. I have a 6in lift with 35s and stock suspension. I use it as a backup daily and an offroad toy for sand dunes. What suspension should I look into for a more smooth dune ride while also still being able to drive highways?

I would start by reading this thread
Lifting a Jeep TJ

If you still want that 6" suspension lift, maybe read this thread.
Installing a Savvy Mid Arm

That should give you an idea of what you should run.

I go up to SL a few times a year having to drive 6hrs so I am in the same boat as you. The big difference for me is I am only on 32s but I can climb any hill here, keep up with the mild built Raptors until the whoops and have never been stuck. My best setup used out there so far is Fox resi adjustable shocks and JKS 3in springs and Swayloc to use as much of the shock travel I can. I have about 5.5-6in of up-travel front and rear. I am really thinking about having the shocks tuned since I use the lowest compression setting of 1 for on road and off road.

This setup is also decent on the highway. I think your wide 35s will limit how good highway is compared to my narrow 32s.

Also LS….that makes it way more fun!

I was wondering the same. How do you have stock suspension and 6” lift?

6" coil spacers with the shocks pulled tight, which might be what keeps the rear driveshaft from locking up. The end result is something closer to a 3.5" lift and getting airborne a lot.

Welcome to WTjF. Is this AI making ridiculous statements again?

Sorry I’m new to this stuff lol but yes I have stock shocks. I blew the rear ones on the dunes and they were replaced with OEM shocks. It actually isn’t even bad, just gets bumpy over whoops but I still can do any hill. Just looking for a smoother dune ride

Stock shocks** my bad

Are you just going off of what the PO told you? A few pics and spring measurement might help determine what you actually have.

Yes, I am not knowledgeable with this kind of stuff. I can get pictures and measurements
