My guys on Aug 2019 in Taji Iraq. It was about 130 degrees on that flightline, but anything for a good pic.

You weren't the pilot, were you? If so, I'm insanely jealous
Thank you for your service sir.No, never a pilot. Crewchief/Mechanic on Apaches and Mechanic/DoorGunner on Blackhawks.
I've been the NCOIC of a heavy maintenance company and most recently NCOIC of aircraft Quality Control.
I've always loved the A10. Our hangar was right next to a squadron of them in Bagram 2013. The only thing that sounded cooler than their engines was the sound of the 30mm.
If I could fly any aircraft it would be a toss between the A10, B1, and the P38.
First aircraft to break the Sound Barrier. Just happened to break the aircraft apart if not done correctly.
Now that's cool!
That's awesome. I've spent a bit of time at Elmendorf AFB in Anchorage AK. They have a restored p38 on display.Yes it is. My stepfather , LTC Willis D Boone , flew the P38 from the Aleutians during WWII. He told me he had a love/hate relationship with it as it was "finicky" in flight but fast as hell. He later became the principal pilot for Air Force II for Hubert Hoover.
