Order is machined and picked up, just need to get the anodizing houses to stop trying to rape me on the price. As soon as I get an even remotely tolerable price, off they go.

Looks pretty nice. Noob question, but what are the improvements over the TRE thimble? Knowing you there must be some.

i've got a guy that anodizes golf clubs down in san marcos.. i reached out to him to gauge his rapey-ness

That will work actually. The item is 2.5" in diameter, 4.25" tall, process is UV Black Type III hard anodize. 210 pieces. I can deliver to San Marcos at the drop of a hat, COD only. You may explain that volumetrically it is right at 1/3 the volume of a cylinder in those dimensions due to the material removed to create the eye.

No logo, less cost. It is the same thimble exactly that I designed for TRE. It is a large improvement over the older TRE version in that I made it to be soft shackle friendly by widening the eye and adding as much radius in the load area as possible.

I appreciate your efforts. The company that I've done way too much business with finally understood basic simple pricing logic and has come in with a very acceptable non rapey price. The price is good enough that I would not punish another company by trying to have them meet it. In fact, it was too low and I raised it to be fair.

Oh don't tell him to do that. I've got more stuff to do and the amount of effort I just had to expend to get the thimbles priced right was exhausting. If I don't have to do that with fairleads, I'm in there.

We work with a couple different anodizers on the other coast and there appears to be no recognizable pattern to pricing. 45 pieces of custom curved 6063 trim at one was $18,000. The other shop cost us $850 for a similar batch. Those numbers have the correct number of zeros.

Sounds like my powder coat lady I used to use. Did the full Savvy complement of products including power coat prime the aluminum backers and corners for paint, control arms, Under Armor, etc. 800 bucks. That works out to two colors essentially. Take in a stock TJ tire carrier for a color they do every day, semi-gloss black, rapes me for 150 and won't back down. Okay, we are done now. Not dealing with that bullshit ever again.
