Thoughts on failing water pump?

Sometimes the cast aluminum t-stat housing is damaged or cracked during removal. First time I did the thermostat I cracked it, and it was a nightmare until I figured it out and replaced the housing.
Thanks! Got a new one. Added a little permatex to each side of the gasket and it doesn’t leak. Hooray!

Thank. I used a wire brush this time as well and actually added a thin coat of gasket sealant on each side of the gasket in case there is an imperfection in the metal. We will see. Letting it dry for a while.
I had a problem with my T-stat housing weeping on my GW (completely different engine I know). It was just imperfections in the aluminum T-stat housing. I ended up using the Permatex water pump sealer and likewise put the thinnest smear on both sides of the Fel-Pro T-stat housing gasket. Finger tight for 24 hours, then torque to spec. Hasn't leaked a drop in 3 years.
