Really stumped on what’s wrong with my tj, and I don’t want to just throw parts at it. I was driving the other day, and when I shifted into second gear, the throttle lost power and started lugging, and the RPMs started going up and down. I pulled off the road, and it went back to normal and was idoling just fine. Drove it the next day with no issues. I tried to drive it this morning, and it did the same thing when I shifted to second gear. I pulled off, and drove it home. I got back from class, and decided to test drive it again and it was completely fine. Not sure what would be causing this issue, and not sure why sometimes it’s fine, and sometimes it’s not. Please give suggestions.

I had similar issues and it was most certainly a plugged cat. Found a bad O2 sensor along the way, fixed exhaust downpipe clearance with the driveshaft and my fuel pressure is 35-38 psi...new regulator coming Thursday.

Check everything. Assume nothing.

What fuel pump did you go with a year ago?

Not too sure what fuel pump is in there, i had that done at a shop. did yours throw any codes when that happened? mine hasn’t thrown a single code. I will definitely check it out, thank you.

Only one I eventually got was the O2 sensor.

Any non Mopar/Bosch pump is suspect. But your fuel pressure will answer all questions.
