TJ rear shock removal

This is the thing I, and many others here have used:

It sez for an XJ, but it work on the TJ as well. There's a slight angle to the nuts that I had to straighten out for fit. Example of 1 each:

This is pretty much the only useful thing posted here so far, the rest is all chest thumping. The bolt through the frame is functional, but silly, and bubba, and makes the jeep less capable than it is now... but I guess its easy... I wonder if there is a correlation? Thanks Zorba.

That's good to know. I bought a pair for my XJ thinking I'd have a problem. I was happily surprised when the bolts backed out easily. I'll move them from my XJ spares pile to my LJ spares pile. 😊

Just an FYI, I just replaced one of my passenger side shock bolts yesterday. I refused the OEM hardware when I installed my lift a couple years ago and one of the oe bolts snapped off inside the welded nut recently. All I did was remove the shock and was able to get a dremel in the hole where the top of the shock mounts and cut about halfway through the welded nut. I then used an air hammer with a point bit and peeled it up from the bolt hole. Little more dermal to clean it up and then remounted with new hardware. No tank dropping needed. Only took maybe an hour.
