Edit: I delayed this for a while as I searched for a reasonable 3rd brake light replacement for the stock tire carrier mounted one. I wasn't a fan of the license plate relocation bracket, I like the tag where it is. Then in an interesting twist I learned from talking with a buddy that's a mechanic that oddly enough Pennsylvania, the only State in the Union that requires doors, does NOT require a third brake light , so, as stated above, off came that ugly fucker.

OP checking in here. This ^^^ is basically what I ended up doing & also did the 3rd brake mod as shown in the linked video. I saw this video posted here too by the author during a search. For about $15 and easily reversible, not a bad option.

Get a few of these and plug the holes with them. Worked well on my brothers TJ. You can add some RTV as well to seal it up if needed

I seriously considered removing my spare until I sliced a sidewall wide-open several months ago.

I wouldn't go anywhere without a spare....

A friend of mine made it in his metal shop. He was testing out equipment and I volunteered to let him use my Jeep for a test batch. Just wanted something different
