Tman's awesome Dr. Who mods for the TJ thread!!!!

What are y'all trying to say to me?

That my wife is bad cook?

I'll have you know she watched a cooking show!
No, we're saying all of your lives could be in jeopardy. Your ravioli girl apparently saw this! ;)

I passed this thread on to my wife. She found it hard to believe. It helped her day if it's any consolation!

I have a question, does it matter which side of the sub, that I hook the wires?

So, I called up tech support at Crutchfield and he said that it didn't matter which side went where as long as the + and - were in the correct tab.
So what does that mean? Is that tech running for a political office? Sounds like what politicians say when asked a question...

I guess it means, just hook it up pretty much like the stock set up.

Unless anyone else has another opinion?

I'm pretty well useless when it comes to wiring stuff up.

To me it's:

I believe the cones will move differently if using the wrong polarity. If one is wrong and the other is right you may hear the sound quality degrade. It is always best to connect all speakers in the on the correct polarity.

The skeeters ate me up at dusk!!!

I would have gotten an earlier start, but my wife, Susan didn't let me know the package had arrived and I only got the roll bar speakers
installed.

I bought:
2 sets of Polk Audio DB522 speakers for the roll bar and front dash.
A Kicker CompRT 43CWRT672 sub for the console.
And a JVC KD-R980BTS head unit with blue tooth and all that shit.

Just with the roll bar speakers, the stereo improved 100%.

So your saying just changing out speakers to Polk is 100% better? I want improvement to stock system.
Thanks!

The stock speakers are just made out of paper. Mine looked ok, but they are 15 years old. The only clear radio station I could get tuned in was country and it sounded really nice when I installed the Polks in the rool bar. 100% improvement? Yeah, IMHO.

Now it's time to remove the plastic ribs, so the new Sub will fit into the enclosure.

But, first, I'd like to take a minute to talk about safety when using the wheel of death.

Always throw on a pair safety glasses! I've been working in machine shops for 30 years now and I can tell you, you never know when a fiber wheel will explode.

OK.
Remove the ribs, check for proper fitment, cut again, check for proper fitment, cut again, check for proper fitment, cut again, check for proper fitment, cut again, check for proper fitment.

Now it's time for some poly fill, all the kool kids are doing it, so why not me?

Tidy up the wiring a bit.

Strip the wires:

I pre drilled a couple of holes and then said the hell with it and rammed some nice sheet metal screws to secure the sub.

And tonight, I'll try and get the console put back into the jeep.

Do you have to cover the whole enclosure?

Probably not. I covered most of mine, but I didn't have a factory sub, so I made some slight modifications to my center console and added a 8" slimline sub. My enclosure was a thinner plastic than yours, so I wanted as much vibe dampening as I could muster.
