Total frame replacement?

The way to start with the seller is to send him a “Demand Letter” demanding a refund over the safety issues including the vehicle inspections. Make it clear that selling a vehicle with obvious safety issues will weigh heavy in your favor vs “Sold as is” in front of a small claims Judge. I guess you could get an attorney but this will further deepen your losses. Good luck on this!

Much appreciated!

How close are you to Fall Creek, OR?

More than willing to help you find a frame.

And since I've had practice I'll bet I can beat my record...

I would be ALL over this kind of help, wow.

And yeah, there’s little recourse, that I can tell. Sad, but getting a frame and restoring.

I do not understand how this is the seller's fault. You had the opportunity to perform due diligence on the rig prior to purchase but failed to identify any material issues. You were satisfied with the condition of the vehicle and opted to purchase.

From a legal stand point you may be correct. The other side of that coin is a person misrepresenting a vehicle or?? which the buyer accepted as the truth. Likely paying "market value" of something represented as a solid, perfectly safe to drive vehicle, when it actuality its a death trap of rust putting her and her family in danger bot to mention the thousands she paid for a unusable vehicle. Most of us were hopefully taught to tell the truth, be honest, dont rip people off. Things like ethics, morals and being able to sleep at night do have their place in modern civilization. Her delima is exactly I will NEVER buy a used vehicle from a dealer. 90% problem vehicles sold by people who have no clue of its former life and bought for cheap at a blow out auction then sold with 100% markup. I could write a book on the scams.

I didnt watch 100% of the video but yes, the frame is in BAD shape in the areas they pointed out. I guessing the dirty oil spots are trans fluid and their telling you you need a new transmission. The engine oil leaks are typical of a 4.0 engine, not the end of the world, just messy. I'm sure this comment will piss off plenty, but Chrysler should be hung for making such shitty rust bucket frames for so many years. Unfortunately they rust inside even worst. Ive had vehicles from Alaska and we lived on the foggy wet coast and NEVER have seen issues like jeep does with frame rust, even our TJ who has spent its life in Arizona has rust.

That video shows the underside of a 24 year old abused jeep. Are the frames prone to rust? Yes. Did a lot of people who bought Jeeps and do nothing to protect them? Yes. This is another one of those cases. Sorry you were sold this one.

Sounds like the seller trying to justify screwing somebody.

Any good news yet?

Not yet. Seller just returned from
Hate to say it but that's basically what a court will say...

I’m following the guidance of legal who say there are laws to protect in cases like this. It was the original mechanic who mentioned it or it wouldn’t have occurred to me. I would have taken the gut punch news. :(

Swapping a frame is easy to do in 8 days.

I even have a hot spare sitting in my yard just in case.

Paying someone to do it is nuts.

People drive Jeeps from back east and sell them... happens...rare to see here but you have to check.

Wish I knew how and had the facilities:).

so where did you steal if from ? did you just take the frame or the whole Jeep ?

good answer. so he stole it then or it ain't HOT :ROFLMAO:

Actually the original tub they bought in a junkyard was due to be repo'd. When they tried to assume the title through Oregon DMV the lienholder wouldn't release the title...so they couldn't move forward, scrapped that tub and bought the one the frame they gave me sits on.

Basically there's a 2000 4 cylinder TJ in Astoria on a YJ frame, tons, 40s and a bored over 6.0 LS.
