Turn signal stops when i step on brakes

I'm having an issue with my left turn signal. When i activate it both the right and left rear signals start flashing and just the front left one. Then when i step on the brake they stop flashing and go steady on. The right signal functions fine. Ive cleaned all the bolts and contacts in the lights any other suggestions would be great.

Isn’t that typically a bad ground somewhere? They all feed off the same harness so at some point (in the brake wiring sounds like) there is a bad connection

This is almost certainly the result of a bad ground or poor connection. Check all the connections in the taillight housings and make sure none of them are corroded.

X100 check grounds. Tail lights themselves are grounded just by the screws. If they get corroded enough it won't work. Check all your bulbs too, more than likely a bad ground.

I had those kind of issues on a YJ. It was a grounding issue with the wiring for a trailer hitch. Check the wires and look for bare wires touching each other.
