Turn signals and hazards not working

Hi Everyone,

The issue of the turn signals and hazards not working seems to be a thing on this forum. I'm having an issue with mine as well, and looking for some help. I bought my 06 TJ Anniversary Edition a few months ago. The previous owner had switched out the stock front fenders and installed LED headlights and marker lights. He left all the original turn signals and marker lights installed, just taped up in the wheel wells. A few weeks ago when I turned on my right blinker, both the right and left front blinkers flashed and the rear blinker worked as it should. The left blinker worked normally. I thought one of the incandescent that was taped up had burned out so I replaced them with new LED bulbs. I had the same problem, but now when I pressed the hazard button it buzzed and didn't flash. After messing around with the hazard button a little more, the hazards and turn signals all stopped working. I purchased the recommended flasher relay for the LEDs, and installed that but nothing changed. I checked and replaced the fuse behind the glove box for the multifunction switch and that didn't solve it. I purchased and installed a new multifunction switch and still nothing. The headlights, running lights, and brake lights all still work as they should.

Does any one have any idea what might be the issue and how I might go about solving it?

I have a 2005 TJ. I was having similar issues. My signal lights / hazard lights would not blink. I started with the fuses behind glove box 2 & 12. They were good. Changed the relay on top of steering column, still nothing. I already had a new multiswitch waiting to be installed so replaced it; Didn’t fix the issue. Today I found my issue. Under the hood in front of the battery is the other fuse/relay box. I decided to check all the fuses regardless of label. Fuse 27 labeled MFSW (20Amp) was blown. It didn’t stand out as something to check originally. But now thinking that description points to the Multiswitch. It must have shorted and blew the fuse.

Was it the LM470 relay that you replaced with? Check the fuse under the hood marked MFS

Yes, the replacement relay was the LM470 Novita. My issue was the Fuse 27 labeled MFSW (20Amp) under the hood. After testing everything after I replaced the fuse, my original relay was fine. Guess I have a spare now.

Thanks for the help canadianguy. I replaced fuse 27 and my blinkers are working again. I've now got a few other strange light issues that I need to spend time trying to diagnose but at least things are flashing again. Once I've got some time to spend tracing out what's going on with all the lights, hopefully everything will be back and functioning properly.

Hey! No problem. Glad it helped you. Good luck with your tracing… start with the grounds… normally most of my problems with other light issues.

I just replaced the combo switch and after that, the blinkers/hazard are not working, I checked the 20amp fuse and it was blown. I put a new and it blew again immediately, do you think that it’s a bad switch?

Or a short in the connector.

Unplug the connector to the switch and see what happens.
