and the CEL is still lit throwing p0123 and the cruise control p1596 codes.

My horn operates normally and I do not have any issues with the airbag light.

My question: since the horn and airbag light functions properly is there a chance the issue is being caused by a ruined cruise control switch due to water inindation? I may let the Jeep go for a while before ordering a clock spring to see if the CEL turns off over time. I am having minor idle and acceleration issues that clear up after running and driving the Jeep for about 5 minutes but the Jeep is drivable as of now.

That will teach me for leaving the top down for the wife while I am at work.

Seems unlikely it would be the cruise control switch itself. I mean I suppose it's possible, but to my knowledge, a bad cruise control switch (thrones mounted to the steering wheel) don't throw a CEL. Maybe I'm wrong?

Not sure either, but he 1596 code is for cruise too high voltage.

I just really really don’t want to pull the steering wheel lol and am hoping for the light to turn off and everything to go back to normal like magic.

I had the same problem and replacing the clock spring did the job. And you can go to any local auto parts store to rent a puller for free, makes pulling the wheel a breeze.
