Tworley build

I practiced some welds tonight and put together my winch hoop! This was a Barnes tube I bought some time ago along with gussets and plates from sendcutsend.

How does the new steering gear feel and respond? Was your pump still good?

Response is fast, identical to the previous tapped gear . There are no dead spots or play in the wheel when driving. The new steering shaft also clears 👌

The old pump from July is toast--it makes an incredible racket. The one I snagged from your pile is quiet. I had to replace the reservoir hose because it was dry rotted and fit very loose but that's nothing.

Awesome to hear!

That’s awesome, the Barnes tube is a good deal. I am considering using it as well. It’s cool to see it on. Anything you would change dimension wise? Width height etc?

The only issue I see right now is the hoop partially blocks the safety thimble for access. If I could change anything, it would be to make it slightly higher, or change out the fairlead. The latter seems easier!

I got the winch hoop installed, the winch wired back up and respooled the winch line. I need to figure out recovery points and I'm leaning towards a soft shackle mount to replace the OE hooks. I also want to put a different steering box skid on so thats why you dont see it currently.

Hopefully the next pictures in this thread don't include a driveway or garage...
