I just bought a 2000 Jeep Wrangler with 140,000 miles. I have been doing lots of research to learn the in and outs of the vehicle. However since I'm not familiar with the quirks and parts of everything quite yet. After a good hour drive to bring it home I started to notice a really slow leak coming out of what I think is the transmission. Its definitely slow since I waited about an hour to see another drop followed the first one I noticed. I posted a pic and circled where the leak is dripping from. I would love to know what the leak is being caused by and If its a DYI project or should I seek professional help.

Thank you

That's typically where the rear main seal leak shows up, or valve cover leak running down the back of the engine. You can reach around to the back of the head and feel for oil/wetness back there to see if the VC is leaking, but you'll also find that RMS leaks are a fairly common issue on these.

Thank you so much Ill check that! Is the fix something I can do as a new Jeep owner with some mechanical knowledge or should I just let a professional handle that?

If you look up some rear main seal threads on here you can make your own decision. You would think it should be fairly simple but a lot of people have not been successful at stopping the leak. The valve cover gasket is a piece of cake though.
