Upgrading the sound system on your Jeep Wrangler TJ

I saw the active version of the subwoofer but my main goal was to make the wiring simplier by using a 5-channel amp under the dash.

Unfortunately, the P805 is the only 5-channel BLAM amplifier that can fit under the dashboard. I also looked at the Picasso Nano PN5.640D, but with a $300 price difference including shipping to my location, I’m wondering if it wouldn’t be better to stick with BLAM — especially since the reviews on the Picasso are quite mixed

Great, then I would stick with this BLAM package and it's a solid combo. Yes, the P805 will drive the MSP35 and Relax 130s very well, but the amp has more power on tap than those speakers and sub need, so set gains conservatively.

This will be a great set up. If you have questions setting up the initial gains and filters ask away.

You can achieve awesome sound with upgraded coaxial speakers in their stock locations…just be sure to add a compact 4 channel amp which you can install behind receiver or glove box. If you don’t mind loosing your space behind the rear seat then add another amplifier with a subwoofer and that will complete your system. I run a cheap (under $50 single din receiver) with the above setup so nobody gets the urge to steal it.

Everybody needs more loose space...

Hello @skrelnik,

I finally received all my components and I'am ready to start installation.

What settings would you recommend for the gain and the filters, knowing that I went with:
  • AMP : Blam P805
  • Front speakers : Blam 130 RFS
  • Crossover : Blam BFR01
  • Sub : Blam MSP 25P ( located in center console )
  • Pods : Valicar 4 twetter
(I’m keeping the Kicker 6.75” as you suggested — at least for now…)

it's my question ;-)

According to the fact that the P805 is a powerfull AMP, what settings would you recommend for the gain and the filters ?

Regards

You should set the gains with a multimeter. If you google "How to set car stereo amplifier gains with a mulitmeter" you'll find tons of instructions. If you have access to an oscilloscope you can do an even better job. It involves setting your head unit to a high volume, pushing the amplifiers until they start to clip, then dialing it back to just before that point.

I've visited https://incartec.co.uk/ recently, and several BLAM speakers are no longer available for shipping to the US.

@skrelnik - any ideas where to get them these days?

I was not happy to hear this but yeah, ownership changed their model to help with sales. Based on industry chatter, BLAM shifted toward installer-only model, mainly the Audiotec Fischer brand/partner installers. This helps protect brand positioning.

MSC America is the main go to site. They then award US installers with regional sales rights.

I need to reach out to my contact to see if he will ship. I will post once I hear back.

MSC America

Google failed me miserably 😆:

MSC World America, launching in 2025 from Miami, is a massive 215,000+ gross ton, 22-deck ship designed for the US market with 6,762 passenger capacity. It features 7 districts, 19+ dining venues (including Eataly), the MSC Yacht Club, and itineraries to the Caribbean and Ocean Cay. The ship focuses on modern, eco-friendly design and competitive, value-driven entertainment.

I found a website for a brick & mortar (I think) shop in California that sells BLAM and other stuff: https://www.srcartunes.com/blam-relax-130-rc

Lately I've been thinking I may just go with the "marine certified" Polk Audio DB line for fronts & rear pods.

Has anyone tried one of these under the rear seat? I'll have to do some measuring.

I'm thinking about going this route instead of cramming a sub into the OE location. Then I could use the console for other stuff. Maybe just a custom set of trays, or a concealed lower tray for, uh, concealed things.

EDIT: No... there's not nearly enough room under the seat for either size:

10" dim: 6" H x 13-1/4" W x 25-5/8" L
12: dim: 7-1/2" H x 14-5/8" W x 27-1/2" L
