Posted a link for programming the UV-5R

as a rebuttal to what I’ve recommended and used for a while

After messing around with his recommendation for the past few days (49$ with there cable + shipping) I will say I agree 💯 that this is a great program that is worth the small cost. I am not a tech savvy person at all. I found it easy to navigate and it has menu’s to upload frequencies.

I will state that my Amazon bought Baofeng cable didn’t work with there program so I would recommend getting the package provided from them.

just wanted to give a small review and a HUGE thanks to @Dino - KX6D for sharing his knowledge on this!

What have you noticed is different between the RT software and Chirp? I'm not getting much from the screenshots on the RT website

I run the RT software for our FTM-400xd's. It is solid and you can program a few different SD cards to have with you. Going to the races, drop in the rescue and race card, driving across the I10, reprogram for those repeaters, etc.

For the baofeng, I got used to chirp. I may give the RT software a whirl. Have about 200 BF888's that I maintain. Might be worth it.

I really wish I could answer that question for you. Like I said I’m not tech savvy at all. I couldn’t put it in words if I wanted to.

What I can tell you is I do feel like the program is IMO more simplified. Uploading the saved frequency’s (gmrs, noaa, etc) vs copy and paste. Saving different setup for different usages/ radios.

Im not exaggerating when I say I’m really dumb when it comes to computers and I am more comfortable using this over chirp.

My apologies for not being able to answer your question in detail.
