I had this 1963 CJ6 in the late 1970's.

I sold it to buy this 1972 J2000 from a neighbor in 1978. I have painted it three times over the time I had it. Petty Blue for a while, Plum Crazy for most of the 1980's and the blue it is now I dont remember the name of the color.

It now belongs to my oldest sone holding the fish. He learned to drive in that old truck. Here it is in 2016 after I rebuilt the camper cover and gave it to him.

It needs another paint job but if I help do it all the old paint will have to come off first so we can do it right. He still drives the truck and his son loves it.

I have been on the long search of trying to find/buy a CJ6 that isn't completely rusted out and ridiculously priced. That is the only Jeep my wife will let me buy without selling any others :D

What grabs me about this is the guys on the bikes. No helmet, no problem. Camels unfiltered-sure. Just a real different time. For toys we had Yard Darts. The only warning we had was “stay out of the garden!”.

Really good post. Being a good dad is so important to a child.

I completely agree. The guys on the bikes have no gear at all. No gloves, no riding jersey/pants, no goggles, helmet, chest protector. Zero. Definitely shows a different time.

SBC, SM-420, D20 w/tera lo, Dana 44's front and back. Like driving a school bus.

Had a lot of good times in her. Sometimes I miss her. BUT, now we have heat, AC, Atlas II. etc and auto! Even more good times to come.
