Have a question I need some help drove my 97 tj to work last night and stepped out of it for a sec with it still running and noticed a really bad grinding, chattering noise coming from it checked it over this morning and seems to be water pump pulley loose had some play in it (not leaking or anything) do u guys think the water pump itself is the problem never noticed any noise before motor runs slick as a ribbon has never had any signs problems everything I've read says that it will be a gradual problem that will eventually leak but it sounds awful should I go ahead and replace it? Thanks for any advice

If the 4 nuts securing both the fan hub and pulley to the water pump flange are tight, then the water pump bearing has failed. This requires immediate attention as it won't be long before the seal lets go.

X2 to what Raymond said. Sounds like the water pump itself is done for.

The part number for the water pump for a 4.0 liter, 6 cylinder is 5012366AG.

The part number for the water pump for a 2.4 liter, 4 cylinder is 4694307AF.

The part number for the water pump for a 2.5 liter, 4 cylinder is 4626054AF.
