Post up your wares.

Decided it had been far too long since I had cooked over charcoal so picked up a Weber and some lump.

And what better to get back in practice with a couple rib eyes.

Well definitely need a bit more practice but can’t complain. Nothing better than meat cooked over wood and some potato salad.

I’ve got a Weber Performer, it has a gas assist for the charcoal, it’s pretty convenient and I like the cooking table. That said, a normal chimney does a better job of getting the charcoals lit fast. Also love my Weber Smokey mountain bullet smoker.

Kingsford original blue/white bag for me, though they don’t have the MDW sales like the old days, I used to stock up ~20 bags when they were 2 for 10. Now it doesn’t drop below 20 ☹️

I stoped by Echo Lake meats yesterday looking for some halibut burgers, didn’t have them yet but ended up with some bacon jalepeno popper chicken roll ups. Can’t go wrong with Charcoal, it’s the only way to go

The informal WTJF bbq / outdoor cooking thread if you haven’t stumbled on it before -

Echo Lake has been doing a lot of good things now that Erick bought it. That is where we got the ribeyes.

I will probably pick up some briquettes for general purpose grilling just for the consistancy and to try my hand at some baking as well.

Grandma Burkes Famous Meatloaf and Smashed Taters!

Gingerly got my Father to talk about his time in Vietnam in 67 and 68.

Got my mother talking about her time in San Fransico and Hawaii while my father was away in Vietnam.

Thanking God that both my Uncle and Father returned home alive.

Round two. Went for briquettes this go around since I wanted to bake. Tried this Jealous Devil stuff and it seems pretty decent.

And baked some shortbread. All and all it went pretty good.
