What did you do to your TJ today?

Scored a hardtop for my LJ for 1600.

5 hour drive, but I'll take it.

Today I got the inside half of my hand throttle installed. I also got the base to the passenger seat prepped for por15. Its drying out tonight and tomorrow night it will get painted. I also got my dash put back in today. I still have a few hours until its all plugged back in again. I still need to wire in the new double din stereo, the ML6 controller and the remote car start but once the fuse taps show up from amazon the electric heated seats will at least be finished. Sometimes it feels like my jeep doesn't respect my budget or my personal time. It just dominates both those aspects of my life. The last pic I just threw in cause I love my new tool mount locations.

Up and down stream O2 sensors replaced tonight with NTK from the O2 thread on here. Luckily both came out with minimal effort. Just on 60,000 miles, didn't have any codes but running rich and about 8mpg. Running way smoother now so will be interesting to see if there's an improvement in mpg.
Hey...completely from left field, but where in NZ are you ?

* actually do you have the link for those sensors too...mine could do with a swap out

Today I installed bluetooth control arms. They give my LJ great articulation. It’s almost as if I don’t have control arms😳 haha. In all seriousness though, I replaced the shitty RC control arm joints with Johnny joints. They feel great. I immediately noticed the difference. I only have RC control arms to begin with since I got all 8 for $100 bucks so i said fuck it.

Hey, I'm down in Dunedin, where are you?

I used NTK 23099 and 23151 for a 97 import from Japan. Got them from Rock Auto.com If it's NZ new it might be different - seems like the aussie ones at least use a different configuration to the US domestic builds.. different shapes plugs on them

Removed the chrome, painted bezels, and put in the new Motobilt stubby bumper. Removing rust under it and Painting it soon. Also got new headlights, stabilizer, and adjustable track bar in. Tomorrow removing the 3” body lift and swapping to a 1.25”.

Ok Great...Mine is a Jap import too so that will work for mine as well.
Could you be any further away lol...Im in Auckland

Had a manager once, that got called home unexpectedly, because one of his kids caught the house on fire messing with a potato gun. Luckily, it was just superficial damage on one side.
Anyone else think its funny that they used a potato gun and the house almost fries

Well, this weekend I learned that I'm an idiot. OK, really, I knew that already; I mean; it's pretty obvious and I'm not a complete idi...uh. 😖
Anyway, I was looking through the threads in the TJ Resources (something I would strongly suggest to everyone!) and ran across the How can I tell how much lift my Jeep Wrangler TJ has? thread. I had seen this thread, or something very much like it, a couple of years ago when I had my 2001, but decided to check my current TJ against the info contained therein. Much to my surprise, what I had been thinking (and telling everyone) was the lift on my TJ was just flat-ass wrong! And, as everyone knows, there is nothing wronger than flat-ass wrong! Oh, the shame 😞. I have been saying that I had a 6" of suspension lift when, in fact, I have right at 4.5" (average - front and rear) of lift! I double-verified this by peering at the very degraded and barely decipherable part numbers printed on my Currie springs and looking them up to find that they are, in fact, 4" lift springs. Combine that with the leveling spacers and we have about 4.5" average.

Soooo, now I am stuck on the horns of a conundrum (or cunnunded on the horns of a stuckrum...never sure 'bout that), because I have a tummy tuck (TerraFlex) that is not quite "fully tucked" due to the fact that I have no body lift and, if I tuck it all the way up, the tranny makes more than casual contact with the body. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that it makes full-on porno-style deep-in XXX contact with the body. Even with a 1/2" TC drop spacer, it still does a bit more than just "touchy feely". So now, I want to make it all good and get the max out of the possible tucks of the tummy  but really, don't want to add to my lift any more than is necessary.

I've done the measurements and the math to determine that, as much as I want it to work, a 1/2" body lift just won't quite do it and I will have to go the Full Monty with a 1" BL to make it fly. Or...I could go with a 1/2" TC drop spacer and a 1/2" body lift and be OK (maybe a bit less OK than the 1" BL) and keep the lift as low as possible but loose out on 1/2" of tummy tuckage/break-over angle.

I'm tossed here. If I were running 35 or 37 inch tires, it would be a no brainer (right up my alley), I'd go for the 1" BL. But I'm currently sporting 33's, and will be for a while as I have a brand new set of 33" Mickey Thompson MTZ-P3's waiting to go on; so a total of 5.5" of lift may look a bit "overkill". Yes, I know that the 1" increase in lift is mostly about looks and will not substantially affect my ride/performance, but, quoting Billy Crystal, "it's not how you feel, it's how you rook" and I don't want to rook like a total dweeb. I will almost certainly go for 35" tires in the future but, that's...uhm...in the future, and I don't want to screw myself out of desirable benefits now, simply because I don't want to look like a dork (too late) with a "well lifted" TJ on measly 33" tires while, simultaneously, I don't want to look like a complete dork (yep, again, too late) looking toward a, yet-to-be-fulfilled future.

So I ask, what do you think? Anyone out there running 4"-ish suspension lift with a 1" body lift and 33" tires?

Are we still talking about the Jeep? ;)

We gotta wash them ?

I have a 4-ish lift with 31in tyres.

I should go look at that thread to find out if in fact it is a 4" lift as I was told. No body lift on it but man, I gotta get rid of the transfer case drop.

Not the best pics and 33s in first are rather worn but this should give you an idea. Same 4” Currie spring and 1.25” Savvy BL (also 1” MML) in both. To me difference is most noticeable near fender well. But I don’t think will look bad or out of place with that setup and 33s.

If its only the plugs I will have them changed.

Hah, I did just that. We (yes, we!!) decided to try to take the Jeep on some trails for the first time last weekend. Got there and found it completely snow covered (no surprise). Decided against solo trails on snow without a winch - and my lovely wife says...

"You should probably get a winch so we can go out next time."

It arrives next week. :)
I’ll have to show “the minister of finance” your reply. 😆
