What did you do to your other vehicle today?

We also had an 1980 240D but I don't remeber changing the oil on that. The 300D was my first car given to me in about 1984 so I took over the maintenance on that.

Yea, an '80 would have been a W123 chassis and had the top filter.

I sure do miss my '74 W115, bottom filter and all. Terminal case of cancer did it in.

The 02 Audi A4 Quattro with the 1.8T engine was the same pain in the ass filter change. As I wasn't born with a 3rd elbow to get my arm in there to change the damn thing out, I gladly paid Audi $120 a couple times a year to do it.

I'm that way with the wife's Fiat. Has a little spin on filter somewhere behind the grille. What with the bottom engine cover (WHY?) and the general tightness of things, $70 at the dealership ain't bad.

Broke the stock converter in the GN.I guess it couldn't take the absue anymore lol.

The snout broke in two. I removed the trans, fished out the other half of the converter snout from the pump, and installed a new billet 3200rpm converter. Also pulled the oil pan and replaced the seeping cork gasket, and measured crankshaft endplay, which looked good at 0.008.

Yeah. Its a pretty basic setup, but works well.

TA49 turbo
Turbo Tweak chip
50lb injectors
3" downpipe w/external wastegate
Front mount intercooler
Now a 3200rpm converter

Still all stock suspension, with Toyo drag radials.

I'm running 18psi of boost on 93 octane without meth injection. With VP M1 methanol spraying, I'm sitting at 26psi.

Sounds great ! A buddy of mine had a few turned up GN's . They are a lot of fun right up to the point the GN remembers it's really a tarted up Regal .

He had a T-top car that the front clip wanted to oscillate differently from the rest of the car when you were on boost above 80 m.p.h.

Seeing the T/C drive snout made me think this wasn't a stocker ! (y)

I posted this in my build thread last week, but I bought the DD new shoes. Falken Wildpeaks AT4W. The duratracs had 67k miles on them. I've only got about 400 miles on these but they're quiet and and seem to grip pretty well. No issues towing over the weekend. The Falkens are slightly narrower and heavier vs the duratracs and a little bit less aggressive.

actually the 300D was a 77 and had a top cartridge filter. Speaking of plastic crap skid plates, did oil changes on the wife's 2016 C300 and daughter 's 24 Rogue. The rogue has about 33 push pins and 2 bolts to drop the damn thing. The only time I took it to a mechanic for an oil change it was $130, he said in the 40+ years of working on cars this was the worst one to do an oil change on. If I did not have a lift, it would be impossible to change the oil on either of those.

Yes. They reworked the 240 engine for 1977 - The 300 came out in '75, and I don't know if they had the top filter then, or it was switched over in '77 when the W123 was introduced.
