What did you do to your TJ today?

I went on a wheeling trip last week that scratched the living daylight out of my jeep.

Scratches like these all over the Jeep. Seriously, it was horrendous looking even by off-road standards.

While my jeep is no pavement princess, I very much like it looking like one when I’m just cruising around on it’s off days. So I broke out the buffer with some Maguires ultimate compound and got a good day of work done.

And a quick trip to the grocery store to flaunt its freshly buffed paint in the fading light.

Which trail was that?

Drove my 04 from Virginia to Florida this week. It did great and all the steering upgrades before I left definitely helped. Also removed the awful 3 inch body lift that was on it and painted the motobilt stubby bumper, added new side steps, prior to leaving too. Sold my hard top and got a bestop trektop nx.

Yesterday took my Rebel out with my FiL and his CJ6 since I didn’t have my Jeep - I should pay attention to where I’m going!

Then today some parts came in so I mounted them up. New bumper (good enough until I spend the bucks on a Motobilt stubby with hoop, my new Warn VR8000 and some no name LED headlights.

Ah, haven't heard of that one. Looked like some of the pics I've seen of Smiley Rock
It was in that general area. I’m not sure my Jeep is built enough to handle smiley though I’d like to try.

It definitely had some eerie spots! Slag and mineral runoff from the mines have killed the vegetation in certain areas

Also, big thanks for the help on the trans cooler!! All good now works great. Plumbed the output from trans to OE radiator inlet and out to the new external cooler, then back to trans.

How do you like it? I've had this thing in my cart for two years now, can't seem to pull the trigger on it and it only keeps getting more expensive.

After a day of driving to and from work, I'm liking it so far. It's still gonna take some getting used to, but I like the solid (stiffer) feeling when shifting now. The occasional 1st to 2nd gear grind seems to be gone. I paid $250 for it, so I'm happy with the purchase. I was not ready to pay MSRP.

If I had anything else to compare it to, I would, but I pretty much learned to drive stick on on my LJ. With the exception of an '88 Toyota pickup, I haven't driven any other manuals.

I used to own an '88 Toyota 4x4 in High School! around '96. Loved that truck. I learned to drive stick on a '79 Toyota 2wd truck, and my first vehicle was an '82 4x4.

Where on earth did you find that shifter for $250? Buy it used?

Off of ebay in basically new condition. It was supposedly used for display purposes.
