Good day working on my jeep yesterday. I got the savvy sliders and poisone spyder high lines playing nicely with each other. Also got my hood cut down. That was more of a task than I thought it would be. I cut it short, then kept test fitting and trimming away till I got a good fit.

I had a shake in the steering wheel starting at about 40-45 mph. I did all the normal stuff (rotating & balancing the tires) & had a lot of front end work done a few months ago along with new shocks. Still, this shimmy persisted. Finally, at the suggestion of a knowledgeable friend, I changed tires & wheels. He said that the BFG A/T KO2s (size 33/12.50R15) tires that I had could be problematic on Jeeps. The steel wheels could also contribute to the problem. Well, the BFGs were 5 years old so I was going to replace them next year anyway so I bought a set of Falken Wildpeak A/T3 tires mounted on Pro Comp 69 series cast aluminum wheels.
Holy crap! This Jeep drives great now & the shimmy is gone.
I also changed my chrome side step/rock slider bars to Smittybilt bars with the same 2 stage powder coat texture as on my bumpers. There is no chrome showing now & it look great.
Here’s the “before & after” pics.

Looking forward to following this build. I’m giving some thought to a new front axle.
