What did you do to your TJ today?

I'll pull the fuse, but does that fuse also control the heater? I need the heater, but the diagrams I am finding online show that the glove box fuse is the AC & heater control. Or should I pull the AC compressor clutch relay under the hood?

How long do I need to run the AC before the bearings burn out? 30 seconds? 30 minutes? 3 hours?

Not long. The freon is the lubricant. How long can you run your motor without lubricant. Friction is a bitch. Just pull the connector at the pump.

Pull the AC clutch relay. or as said above disconnect the connector at the AC compressor.

to give you some peace of mind. The AC system has high and low pressure switches that will prevent the system from powering the AC clutch thus preventing the AC system from actually working. If the switches are in fact functioning properly. that would mean then that there is zero to even a negative pressure in the system and the low pressure switch would prevent the voltage from powering the magnetic clutch which would pressurize the system. Basically even when you put the controls to AC on, nothing is going to happen so you did not burn up any bearings

I got a bit of surprise money which happens to be enough to cover the local shop's cost to fill the AC up with refrigerant. I'll probably just go ahead and get it filled up and get it out of the way although it is winter.

Freon is actually just a gas that when heated turns to a liquid as in the compressor and cools to a vapor quickly as it passes through the condenser where ambient air passing through the coils cools the freon turning it to a gas the receiver dryer then filters and removes the moisture, when it enters the evaporator the cabin air that is being forced through coils is cooled which again warms the freon back up turning it into a liquid as it makes it way back to the compressor to start the cycle again.
oil is added in the system in the same way, and sometimes, depending on the machine being used, it can be added at the same time or just before pressurization of the freon when servicing any AC system.
However oil is added in with the freon. We use mineral oil in aircraft. anyway when you evacuate a system you do remove some oil however the majority is still held in the accumulator (receiver/dryer) and in the compressor.

I’m just glad to be alive. It could have been so much worse so I just look at the bright side and keep on moving forward. Merry Christmas buddy

I didn't do anything TO my Jeep today, but I did something FOR my Jeep today.

I installed 2 more 4' LED strips above the Jeep so that whenever I am working on the engine, I have better lighting. The pics may be subtle, but I can definitely tell a difference in person.
