What did you do to your TJ today?

Went offroading at Ben Franklin Range in Templeton, PA with my son yesterday - our 1st time there. No pics, because we spent about 35 minutes wheeling before I (think) chipped teeth off my hp30 ring and/or pinion trying to pull him off a rock (I'll open it today to find out). Spent an hour getting off the trail and back to the truck. Spent 1.5 hours disconnecting driveshafts and diagnosing, then air up, hook up, top up & drove 2.5 hours home. Not the best day, but not the worst. Wheeling for 20+ years and this is my 1st major break. Probably into a new gear job.

I’d say as good- balanced is balanced.

They will true a tire in 50-100 miles.

I think because they adjust you end up with better tires -

We left to go on a trip with some new tires and nearly turned around because of the vibrations -by the time we went 35 or 40 miles it was hardly noticeable

Can you please explain?
Isn't the media inside the centramatic free flowing? I thought they worked immediately. As soon as centrifugal force is applied the balancing media should spread out wherever it is needed.
Why does it take 30-40 miles to balance and how do they "true" a tire in 50-100?

I've got a set of centramatics that have been sitting in my garage for several years... last tires were full of airsoft pellets. That worked ok. When I put my new tires on I was going to throw the centramatics on behind them but the tires didn't even need balancing, they just run smooth. I'm wondering now if it would actually be beneficial to throw them on anyway, if it may help the tires wear better long-term. Extra unsprung rotational mass isn't something I usually go for though, for shits and giggles

I know it's silly but I'm not wild about the look. I like seeing disc brakes peeking out from behind the wheel spokes.

Sorry my wording was ambiguous - they work immediately- always- to the extent they have enough weight to calm the tire down.

What I found out is even if the tire is shaking with them at first, after 30-40 miles it will “cut” true. After that it never vibrates again - and eventually you can often run them with nothing - at least in the rear. Once the balancers force them to true up. How long you can do this I don’t know.

Basically my take was a tire can wear evenly if forced just like it can wear unevenly if out of balance and has no weights, etc.

In other words they make the tire better is my impression.

Made mine my permanent DD after selling my Tahoe yesterday.
Now, has anyone put a new style (2-3 piece) hardtop on a TJ? I’ve seen a few on line from different suppliers, but I’m looking for real world feedback on them from someone that has one.
I don’t want to have to be putting my oem hardtop back on every time I want to take my boat to the lake, and I do not want a soft top.
Anyone??

Tie rod end was bad, so I just ordered a new ZJ tie rod/ drag link and ends to replace everything. FedEx managed to crush the end of the box (again) and the threads were a little messed up. I contacted the company and they told me to keep the parts and issued a full refund. Customer service at its finest. That's why I use them for all easy to replace parts (10 year warranty too).

Found a NOS Front Bumper Cover and replaced mine. The bolts I took out are M6-1.0. Is that right? or are they SAE? The ones I took out didn't match so I'd like to replace them with the right size.

I'm sure the rest of the class would be curious what the name of this company is

Replaced one of the latch pins for the Bestop roof. I'd caught them backing out before, but missed it this time and lost it. Kinda pricey for what they are, especially with shipping. (T20 is the size of the screws to remove and install.)

Bear with me here with the pics,I basically just ate like a full 3 course meal before getting under my jeep so pics might be a bit bad😆
I will admit I am afraid to discover that once I get an engine skid I bet this system may interfere with an engine skid,I wonder if a 1" mml could help?
To note I'm at Essentially stock height and no bump stops

Here's my fist for 🤜🏼scale ! My thumb was touching the cat.⬇️View attachment 540736
At full stuff my drive shaft u joint likes to kiss my pretty header.....hopefully once I install a body&motor mount lift it should help with clearance along with more bump stop once I go taller it'll nit hit,An HP30 with all the listed mods might beg to differ🙃
Anyways i digress...more pics

The ujoint and header kissing action I talked about.....not too bad all things considered, wasn't too happy when I heard and seen that when I was out on a trail 🙃

Hopefully this helps if anyone is seeking this setup,I'll see how it clears with an engine skid,if anything an oil pan skid might have to do(the one you directly bolt on the pan),I've already hit that and especially my tranny oil pan, once again I'll see how it all pans out 😉once im there(hehe....."pans out "😆 ahhh so funny.....)
Any questions regarding this header and cat setup are welcome! 😁
Edit- I can most likely push the cat pipe up once I get my 3" exhaust setup,I just pushed it up a bit more since my cat pipe is kinda sorta being hanged with a clothes hanger wire😅......(because of the steering thats now been replaced) Death wobble at 90 mph got the better of it and made the hanger break due to the lack of support and the mufflers weight leveraging on that single hanger that no longer exists......

That thing is way too clean underneath the hood. Looks great!

Thanks :) ! Its a bit dirty for me around the frame rails
Excuse my language but i like my shit clean, I hate working on a dirty jeep! for the most part you could shove your hand in many places and the only thing youll get is maybe some dust and dirt but no oily dirty sludge. I hated working on my jeep when i first got it since my arms and hands always came out black, now that i cleaned her up and still continue to do so its not bad anymore :) its a daily but if it wasn't id keep it so clean and shiny to the point that it would be sanitary to prep food on it 😆

i thought mine is much cleaner than average but you are taking yours to a new level. I may have to match that level.

Anyone??

I had a 2-piece from Bull Dawg Mfg on my last TJ. I liked it, but it was pretty heavy. It was nice... Even had carpet on the inside. I wish I could find a 3 piece... Similar to the freedom top on a JK.

Trust me there's some other guys that have beautiful under carriages! I.e @sunnysideup_lj And some others, one of them having a beautifully tig welded exhaust ! I don't know his user. But that's one of the things that just got stapled in my head cause of how nice his jeep is!
I don't beat myself up too much, and remember Comparison is the theif of joy!
