What did you do to your TJ today?

I used one of these for years.

Amazon: D-Ring Hitch Receiver

It worked for me in situations like this:

But, this situation had me hooking up the recovery strap to the D-ring and throwing it up in the bed at the start of future rides to be ready to recover.

Otherwise, you look like this...

🤣

If you don't play in mud, that prep hook-up may not be needed, but the recovery point works well paired with a good snatch strap. I have a 30' non-stretch (aka not a Bubba rope) that served my group well.

I've had this strap that served me well: Strap

you've got a smile on your face. I don't see the problem here.

Installed my new FREE ZJ tie rod, drag link and tie rod ends this morning since it was only 80 degrees with 96% humidity at 7am. Replaced my crappy wiper blades too with some Amazon $12 blades. My state inspection is due next month so I'll make my Jeep look really clean so they don't check stuff like they do when a POS car pulls up for inspection. 🤫

I so glad I don't live in a state that requires inspection and have to worry about the little BS that comes with it.

Now that TN has done away with emissions testing, we never have to get a vehicle inspected. Not even when you buy or sell.

Downside is that I bet there are a crazy number of vehicles running around here with bad brakes….

The only inspection in WA is bringing out of state to register in WA and it's just to verify vin. And to your downside, I know there's a crazy number of vehicles running around with bad drivers.

I've never lived in a state that had any sort of inspections. Never heard of it being an issue either.

I do the same with mine when I’m due for my six month inspection….

Moved the coolant screen to the upper radiator hose after taking a flapper wheel to shorter fittings I found online and getting the plumbing to fit & align. This should help prevent flakes and crud from plugging up the radiator.

What exactly is that? How hard is it to check to make sure it's not plugged up? Is it able to be cleaned or maybe have a replacable filter in there?

Not that I need one now but you never know what Jeep comes next.

It’s an inline screen and also a filler. It was the only option I found that didn’t seem like a bad idea.

Aeroflow PN: AF64-2043

The cap comes off and the screen comes out. No worries about it getting plugged up due to the internal design.

Edit:

@Duner @JEEPCJTJ @JasterMereel42 … I was able to clog the screen up last night, which caused over heating issues…I did so by using thermocure flush with the screen in (it got hot and the thermocure solidified against the screen). So it is possible to clog up after all. I pulled the screen and all is normal. I’ll put it back in after the thermocure flush is complete. I didn’t have this issue before when it acccumulated smaller bits, but I now know it’s possible to act like a closed thermostat. I don’t want to hurt anyone so I wanted to share this right away.

Opened the front diff today. Fount teeth missing off the ring, but the pinion looks ok. A finger across the points of the pinion teeth feel a little rough, but none broken or chipped.
The question is, just a new ring, or would an entire gear job be advised?

Thanks for any input

Replace the ring and pinion , inspect the spider and end gears , replace the bearings and seals after a through cleaning.

Didn't do as much today as I wanted to. Pulled the center console to run heated seat wiring, then saw that stupid factory sub box and remembered I had a 10" Rockford Fosgate in the corner of the garage, and had an idea. So, I found a place for the sub. Need to order another wiring kit for it.

I'd love to get my hands on one of the big empty center console inserts if anybody has one... would trade for the sub enclosure and coin tray insert

Picked up my light kit from the Toyota dealership today.

Many thanks to @red02tj for pointing out the $14 price.

When I walked up to the counter and the guy brought it out, he says, 'So what year is your Jeep?" 🤣

He said they process anywhere from 17-20 of these kits per week, most of them shipped out.

Hopefully get a chance to install it soon.

Heck of a kit for $14.

The harness and relays are very beefy.

It includes a handful of heavy duty zip ties as well.
