What did you do to your TJ today?

Yea, it is! I was more than a bit surprised. The color of the un-machined metal is also slightly different, whatever that may mean. Maybe the machined one escaped from a skunkworks or something. I'm gonna hit them with a bit of high-temp paint anyway.

Gonna make it look like a bass boat? Because I have a transmission you may be interested in...

Been wanting to build a cover/storage for a while. Liking the first prototype so far. In the future I’ll use better quality wood, rubber (1/4 treadmill mat has worked really well for the bottom of the cargo area), and probably some kind of tracked tie down system on top. Also will do some type of system to tie it into the seat belt bolts on the bottom to minimize risk of it moving around.

Passed CA smog

I am lucky I have my cars registered in one of few counties that not require smog checks. Now I wished I could also claim it as my primary residence as they give out CCW's w/o any issues. The county I live in takes a year before your application even gets reviewed, so I have to take the good with bad.

The inline coolant screen appears to be doing its job. This was pulled after one hour of driving over the span of 2 days.

More bits came out than I expected considering I recently did an ungodly amount of flushes and back flushes.

Also re-torqued the upper CAs and greased the zerks in the suspension, steering, and driveshafts.

Nice little experiment. My son's clock spring wore out in his 01 and since he's a new-ish driver, I wanted him to have an airbag and horn on the wheel, so we took the CS out of my 97 - different sized steering shaft hole syndrome. Opened the broken one up, figured out how to remove the broken ribbon from the shaft plastic. Opened up mine, swapped his shaft plastic into my good ribbon. Reinstalled his.
Mine is down for awhile with some broken ring gear teeth, so I'm going to try to repair mine and if I can't, I'll just run a separate horn button on the dash - had kne on my old TJ.
No pics while we were working as it was a little nerve wracking, but I'll try with the repair portion

Keeping out of the heat -decided to take on this little rats nest that developed. A little cleaner now and also hooked up the second speed of the cooling fan to a AUX panel. Moves enough air now it could effect my passing speed 😉

What is your auxiliary fuse and relay panel? Been wanting to put one in my Jeep.

I have an extra Auxbeam 8 gang controller with the solid state board.. If you are looking to add relays/switches.

Same as this I believe, but in blue and not dimmable.. which I prefer.

I installed it a while back and when I redid the custom 3D switch panel in the center stack I ordered a second one. The original is sitting in my parts cabinet. Kit is complete though the switch labels are missing. Auxbeam sells a sheet of them for cheap

Thanks for the offer. I like my current switch setup. I found a fuse/relay block last night I liked and ordered it. Just wanting to clean up the lose relays laying next to the battery.

I believe every 4 wheel drive vehicle should have a Pintle Hook. I prefer them to attach a kinetic recovery strap or rope. I bought this adapter for my 4 X 4 Tacoma before I bought my TJ.
Amazon https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BDF9WT2R?tag=wranglerorg-20 you can get other configurations to drop or raise the height if you need to.

I didn't like the way it stuck out so much with the factory 5/8 hitch pin hole so I drilled another hitch pin hole about 2 and 3/8ths inches further back. You will need to carefully locate and center punch the drill bit starting pilot hole. clamp the adapter securely on your drill press table and drill slowly working up in drill bit sizes about a 1/16th inch at a time. I called a machine shop to have it done but his minimum job charge was $110.00.

Not TJ related, but I figure there are some folks here that will appreciate this story. We are in Glacier National Park for a mini family reunion for my wife's family. We were at her Uncle's house for a BBQ and I found this 53 Willys parked by the house.
His wife grew up driving a CJ during high school and loved it. Her dad also had this Willys. Right before he died, he gifted her the Willys and gave the CJ to her nephew. She sent the Willys to a cousin in Spokane that carefully went through the whole rig. He converted it to 24V and replaced anything thing he found that needed to be replaced. It is very close to being original. She drives it around East Glacier to run her errands. Top speed is 50 mph. She keeps it garaged in the winter and it cranks right up after some priming come spring. All the inlaws were jealous because I am the only one she let drive it. We talked for hours about Jeeps while everyone else caught up on family stories. As I was driving it down the dirt roads to a hidden swimming hole she was grinning from ear to ear. We both said the same thing at the same time, "I love listening to this machine run!"

She is a true Jeep fanatic. It is so cool to see one of these taken care of used for what is was made for.
