What did you do to your TJ today?

Parts I ordered from Rockauto to get my Jeep running never showed up. They only had to come from NC. FedEx sent them halfway here, then back where they shipped from, then back on their way here again. My car has been in the shop for 3 days for a 3 hour job. Too many excuses for shitty service.

"FedEx"...

Well fuck….tree branch down on my Jeep while I slept. Broke my mirror, one hood latch, ripped my cover, smashed the windshield frame up a little bit and dented the hood too.

I’ve had a tree branch very similar fall at my parents house, crushed the roof and hood of my old foxbody and my old man’s S10. Was a sad day. I’d say you made out pretty alright all considering.

Don’t get me wrong, I am very sorry to see it!

The family went out for a drive this afternoon and the Jeep never saw 200*F on the Torque app that was running on my double DIN radio. Before it would get to 210*F without the AC running with the factory replacement and the Hayden 2791 fan clutch. It stayed between 192-199*F. So far, I'm very impressed with it.

Are you running a 195 degree thermostat? I like the looks and fit from your pics. I wonder if that thing would keep a stock Hemi cool....

I am running the 195° thermostat. I think they build custom radiators as well. I know this brand is what Wheat's uses in their V8 swapped Jeeps. My brother is running one in his JK with a supercharged LT4.

Driving to church this morning with the top on and AC running, it would get to 205° and then drop back to 195°. Granted it was only 68° ambient outside so we'll see this afternoon when it is 85° with high humidity.

Not today but a coupe of weeks ago. Now I know that these Jeeps don't really need a CAI but I enjoy building things. The prefilter is made by a company called EngineAir and most of the other pieces came from Spectre.

Would like to know more about how that went in and curious to see how well it flows and filters. How hard is it to change out the air filter? Is it paper or one of those K&N style oil covered ones?

Installed a left over rock light from Nightlite as a front dome light. The light is actually around 6k temperature. My phones camera made it look more yellow.

Finally got my Toyota headlights for the wiring harness. For those who have installed the harness, how did you route the wire across to the driver side headlight?

IF someone wants the headlight assemblies (no wiring harness), if you pay shipping they will be yours!

My Toyota light harness was long enough to route all the way back round the firewall.

Follow up.

I'll have to look at that route. Behind the grill will be a PITA so ce I have the grill inserts. They are almost impossible to get out.

Added permanent hard/soft/no doors mirrors.
Got those via Amazon, apparently for:

41-64 Fords/Willys/Jeeps

The ad included Jeeps so must be good.

Installed a Cold Case aluminum radiator this morning. I got tired of the cheap O'Reilly radiators cracking. A friend of my brother's owns an off road shop (Wheat's Off-road) and he highly recommend this one.

Install notes:
1. The Hayden extreme duty fan clutch (2791) will not work as it will hit the radiator. The stock fan clutch is only about 1/2" away from it.
2. The fan shroud nutserts are M6x1.0. The radiator doesn't come with bolts, so you will need to source them. I chose stainless.
3. The shroud will need new holes drilled a out 1/4" higher than the OEM holes. This will allow the shroud to sit where it should and not get hit by the fan.
4. The radiator has to come out to remove the fan in the future.

After driving it after the swap, it does run cooler. This week I'll see what it does when I get the soft top back up with the AC.

Follow up to this post on Saturday.

Before installing this radiator and going back to the stock fan clutch, the temperatures without the AC would run between 200-210 during driving conditions and 195-200 when idling. With the AC on, it would run around 215-225 driving and 200-210 when idling. Not sure why it was backwards other than the Hayden 2791 clutch. I never ran the AC with the original factory fan clutch.

Drove the Jeep several times Saturday evening (top off) and the engine never got above 203; and that was only a single time at peak temperatures and idling in the drive thru. Yesterday I drove it several times with the top on and AC running and the temps always stayed in the 194-199 range when driving. When idling for extended periods of time, it would creep up to around 225, but once I got moving it quickly dropped back to the 194-199 range. The AC performance is greatly increased. I'm going to attribute that to the reduced under hood temps.

The picture below is how the temp was running this morning and how I got the temps above.
