What did you do to your TJ today?

Went for a ride and saw this homeless guy standing on the corner at the intersection. At least he was honest. I rolled down the window and said "sorry, all I have is cash on me." He wasn't amused.

Yep, Collier Springs. I’m a little surprised people take their cars to those crystal mines, the main road is pretty sketch. I’ve been all over that area fetching the dogs during deer season. If they go over fisher it’s gonna be a long day.

Me & Juicy are in hot springs now, MIL lives off 270 near Brady Mtn. I guess there are some trails up in there. The road to that ram looks like a nice drive too.
we decided to take another drive this evening on country roads and ended up in Glenwood at the Fish Nest restaurant...

I took my TJ out on a trail yesterday. It was an offroad recovery course so I learned how to operate my winch as well as other gear that I'll need as I build out my recovery kit. A few things though.

1. For the first time ever, I was able to get the transfer case into 4LO without grinding the gears. I was very happy about that and I've figured out that sequence.
2. Whenever I had it in 4LO, I needed to apply way more pressure to the brakes. I even have BMB pads on the front. Is this normal? Is there so much torque in 4LO that you need more pressure on the brake pedal to get it to stop?

Had a hell of a time finding a suitable vacuum elbow to replace the broken one:View attachment 549582

I went to no less than three auto parts stores, before I found someone who actually knew what the fuck I was talking about. Guy at the first store - an Auto Zone - thought I was talking about a vacuum cleaner, the O'Reilly's I stopped at next was clueless - I looked over their Dorman "Help!" assortments (at both stores) and didn't see anything. Then I went to an Advanced Auto and the guy knew exactly what I needed and led me straight to it!

Forensic analysis: The soft rubber elbow that I installed a couple of years back couldn't take the underhood heat, softened, then broke. Thumbnail was able to cut through the thing with little effort (circled). OEM rubber fittings don't have this problem. New hard plastic elbow replaced it - hopefully with better long term results.

Installed. I used heat shrink to ensure a leak free installation.

Glamour shot - center vent functionality restored! Hopefully it'll stay that way. At least I got to practice my macro photography skills.

I had a similar experience on my wife’s Jeep. Ended up using a drip line irrigation 90 I had in the garage. A few years later still working well.

Drive it 5 hrs back to TX, getting pretty good vibrations around 60pmh on the speedo (which is like 64ish IRL). But I’m down a shock and these tires are just about spent. Kept it around 57ish on the speedo most of the way.

Also haven’t filled back up yet, but I’m right at 1/4 tank and went 230 miles. So if I have the 15 gallon tank that’s 20.4 mpg, or 16.1 mpg if I have the 19 gal tank. And that’s not even with a Fram oil filter. Although both those #’s seem unrealistically high. Anxious to do a fill up and see how many gallons she actually drank. Kinda sad I don’t know what size tank I have.

15 gallon tanks were in the 2.5L SE models… yours is 19 gallon more than likely… I found the road you were talking about off Collier Springs.. I’ll be checking it in out sometime this week… let me know when your coming back up and have a day and we’ll go for a ride up to the Lake Winona area north of Hot Springs Village…

There is a lot more torque going to your wheels in 4lo so your drive train requires more help in stopping it.

I couldn't get my carplay to work so I didn't use OnX, but I should've just made my 14 yr old run it on my phone. But that looks about right. Those fire trails don't usually dead end, I wonder where it comes out. I've mapped out a bunch on the east side of Logan Gap on a SxS. There's a couple of nice runs that I think I can get to w/o crossing a water bar, although one entry has a big tree down that needs cleared. If you know where Dozier Hollow is, there's a gate there. Either direction at the fork is a nice ride, occasionally muddy. :)

Probably won't be back for any real amount of time till November.

It ends on top of the mountain… if I had a guess there was probably a fire tower at the end at some point… back in the 40’s and 50’s fire towers where scattered all over these mountain tops while they were logging them…

2.4 rebuild is complete! Fixed the leaking rear main and put a new clutch kit on while I was at it. Took it for a test drive and it seems it’s still down on power once I’m in any gear other than first…. Initial “droning” sound still is present when I’m accelerating.

No CEL/codes. I’m starting to think maybe the PCM is going bad? @Wranglerfix any input?

I replaced the fuel pump way back when but I didn’t replace the regulator, maybe that’s it? I’ve almost eliminated every possible source 😂 someone help me before I lose my mind LOL.

Quick Question from someone who doesn’t live in America…. Can you climb fire towers if you just a civilian and not a firefighter?? …

Have you checked/replaced the cats? They could be restricting flow enough to reduce power but not enough to trigger the sensors?
