What did you do to your TJ today?

Installed my front and rear camera for the new head unit put in. The front camera could be useful for crawling. Also installed new tail light that have reverse lights.

Where did you install the front camera? I have one for the same reason but I like the view you have. Mine is mounted to the front number facing forward. I didn’t see a good spot to mount it underneath.

Axle back out and welding everything in and then paint. Ran brake lines and set those up to go back in once all welded and painted!

Axle back under, brackets welded, brake lines run still need to bleed but flipped calipers and e brake kit attached. Links remounted sitting at 99”. Added piece to rock sliders to match wheel well lines. Still a few things to finish up like EVAP stuff and numerous little tweaks. Then send stuff off to powder coat but may enjoy driving it again for a bit. Thankful for great friends with great skill sets. Need to have buddies shop cut some gussets for shock towers still but can see the finish line.

I put magnets on the mount but it is located just in front of the body mount. The camera can move in in about a 90 deg arc so I can change the view as needed manually.

So right here and you get that good of view of the tires? I saw that spot, but wasn’t sure how well it would work. Must have a strong magnetic, I’d be afraid it might fall off when off road. The other concern I had is if would be more prone to getting dirty / muddy etc. when off road. But I really like the view as yours has a great view of the tires and where they are positioned. I still need to guess some. Looks like you have it facing rearwards, so you must have placed it up close to the crossmember?

Today I am just driving it. Going for a few mile drive along the barrier island, across the bay and who knows where after that.

I have a pile 'o parts that I still need to attend to but that's a job for another time. Hmm.. maybe this should be posted in the "what did you do WITH your TJ" thread...

BMB brakes and new clutch master & slave done this past week. Wow... it's like driving a new (different) Jeep. It was already fun, but this is way more better..

I don’t know what kind of magnet he’s using, but I have a KC Cyclone rock light mounted to a magnet there. It’s held on very tight. This is the magnet I used : https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C8J8K5M7?tag=wranglerorg-20. I don’t know how that can be adapter to a camera because I have no experience with them, but I’m sure there’s a way.

Yes that's the place. I used rare earth magnets and attached them to the mount with epoxy. The camera pivots in the mount so I can adjust it to look back to some degree.

Now that I got the Sahara driving again after changing front brake calipers, pads, axle joints, dust shields and ball joints. It was Jeep washing day !

Shame I didn't drive the Jeep over, we were in the Armada and had my dad along.

Bought 3 bushels of Gala's.

Then a when we got home I put the JKS knockoff swaybar discos on.

Started the fiberglass repairs on Tessie's hardtop. trying to minimize the repair area so as not to mess up too much of the texture, but still get a solid repair. Doesn't look like much but this is 5-6 layers of glass mat and cloth...

This is what was missing before I started...

IMG_20240902_143031683a.jpg

One final layer of glass was applied to both sides at the larger chip to match the top thickness beyond. Working with fiberglass is fun!

Next step will be some filler and glazing putty for final form, then I'll attempt to recreate the texture. Going to give this stuff a shot for that...
