What did you do to your TJ today?

I was tired of my hood prop always falling out of the clip and putting a twist tie on it to keep it from falling and damaging my new Mopar radiator so I ordered a couple of these: https://teamcherokee.com/products/hood-prop-rod-holder-clip-jeep-wrangler-1987-2006.html

I ordered 2 because you pay $7 shipping no matter how many. If you look at reviews for these on Amazon there are a lot of folks complaining that they don't fit and fall right out so I didn't order from Amazon thinking these would be better. Turns out the problem is folks not understanding how to install them. It looks like 1 piece but it's actually 2 pcs, so after twisting your old one out you slip this in then firmly push it till the center part forces it's way into the retainer and spreads it out while at the same time locking it in. It's a little awkward and took me 2 tries but it's solid now. If you just try and put it in the way it is without compressing it it will fall out, leading many to the conclusion that it's too small. Just be sure to compress it after putting it in the hole.

Very small job but well worth it.

I ended up putting 4 wraps of electrical tape on the rod. Stays in place now.

I installed a hood louver and GMRS radio. I went with the Midland MXT 575 with the ghost antenna mounted on the hood above the wiper motor. For the radio cut out the storage compartment in front of the shifter to keep it low and out of the way.

Do you have a picture of the antenna? Did you use a clip bracket to mount it? I have the 275.

So you used the gr inner fenders. How do you like them?

Still in the middle of install. Thought process.... $250 for inners, should be able to sell old fenders to re-coupe cost plus maybe couple bucks. 2nd guessing my decision right now. The inner fenders sit higher and take up more room in the engine bay so not everything is fitting back in. Have an after market intake (Banks, has a casing around filter to help keep water/mud/dirt out) going to have to either cut or remove the case around the filter. Haven't gotten to other side yet which has my ARB, bunch of relays, washer fluid, horn, ect... See how well that side goes back together. All that being said, I love the look. I'll be super happy when it's back together

I ended up going with the lip mount bracket for the antenna. I’m not crazy about having it up on the hood, but it is only around 3” tall and not visible from driver or passenger seat.

Less visible than mine. Seems effective with a ground plane antenna, but I run the cap when not on the trail.

Sad day.
Got the soft top , half doors uppers and lowers out today and cleaned them Up. Installed the lower doors and the soft top. Running windowless..Stagecoach style for now. Much easier to put the top back on when its warm as opposed to cooler weather in October. I ripped the top on my LJ a few years back when it was cool out as the fabric didn't stetch as well as when warm. Still get lots of breeze . Will add windows later as needed.
I'm a wuss, I know..lol Ever since the radiation and chemo and susequent weight loss, I am always cold. Wife is always hot so we make a crazy couple..:ROFLMAO:

That is what I imagined. I assume this is a good spot for reception. Better than mine. I have mine mounted by the passenger taillight.
