What did you do to your TJ today?

Here’s one for you, been hunting why my voltage gauge goes haywire randomly, been an issue since I purchased my 98 a couple years ago. Well I can officially say I found the issue.

PO wired up the cigarette lighter with 14 ga solid copper wire, half-assed wrapped around the lugs on the back side of the lighter plugin, and then clipped some ring terminals in half to shove into this white plug under the steering wheel to get power. Been shorting this out under my dash for some time now…

Now I wonder where the plug went that is supposed to plug into the back of the cigarette lighter.

You can see the other wire laying in the floor board, it just fell out when pulled the cigarette lighter to install my fog light switch.

Just happy I didn’t burn this thing down, especially after finishing my LS swap…

Replaced the valve cover gasket. Gasket was replaced before but the OP threw away the 15 metal torque limiter sleeves. Tough find. Bought plastic ones on Ebay. Added washers on top and torqued to 50 in lbs. Seems to be leak free now and will see over time if they hold up. Have 15 metal "1/4-20 Tee Nuts" from ACE Hardware to modify if they can't take the heat.

The pre-production sample I saw looked good so I picked up a set of the summit LED headlights to install over the weekend.

I will be interested to see how you like these.
I second how you will like these. Post a picture of the beam pattern at night if you can.

I like my LED headlights, but they don't look like they fit a 2000 TJ. I've been looking for a LED headlight that would look the part with very similar beam/light output that the ones I have installed.

I really like my Toyota/Koito H4 kit, but the brightness - even with 100/80whella bulbs - isn't spectacular.

Funny thing I once upon a time ran Hella with the H4 upgraded bulbs. They were the bomb back then. Once you get behind a good set if LEDs it alters your perception. I went from a LED light the PO, to the H4 halogen and thought the ugly led was a better light, so the Auxbeam bulb has given me the best of both worlds

I tried it and didn't like the Toyota kit.

I don't drive much at night, so that probably has something to do with it. Honestly, I like the design and look of the fluted glass lens and inset deflector lol.

Yeah, that's what I hear and I don't doubt it. I think the key is a "good" set of LEDs. I would love to run the KC Gravity's but, see above, I don't drive enough at night to merit $650 headlights.

I’ve had stock, eBay led, and for the last year the Toyota kit with Hella 80/100, the solid glass and price point is part of why they are such an attractive option but they are still halogen.

Installed the Summits, glass feels solid, seals on the back look good, and enough length on the plug.

Will post some beam pics when I duck out one night this weekend.

It is real good to see Summit finally getting back into the game on some aftermarket products (Seat Foam, Control Arms, and lights). This is the kind of effort that brings people back into the hobby. Prior to this I could only find the glass lens from Quake LED and $350 seemed a bit much for the light. This Summit price is a better price point. Thank for sharing the information.

Just realized you have the offset bracket to your winch!

My solenoid box was on top until June when I saw AndyG’s friend’s setup. I think I got the last bracket on earth to move it over. It provides about 5* more cooling to my intercooler in town (summer temps), and looks much cleaner imo.
