What did you do to your TJ today?

Used the jeep as a good ole lil pickup to move the last few boxes of stuff from my apartment. Works great with no top and the rear seat out. Papa was surprised at how much stuff fit back there compared to his shortbox silverado.

Now to focus on paying down my loans and save for more jeep parts…. I know for a fact something is going to STB in the next few weeks. I can feel it in my bones.

Actually this weekend and Dave’s Jeep not mine but we did Catskill Jeep Jamboree. Good times. Great trails. Jeep people are just good people. 🇺🇸

I noticed there was some space left on each side of Claytone's blinding creation. So, in my effort to inflict more blindness I added a bright 1156 LED to each side of his light. I made my own reflectors using HVAC foil tape.

I did the driver's side today. I'll work on the passenger side tomorrow.
Nothing like having headlights for backup lights 😈

Stupid question: I ordered the tap to install the "storage pins" - is any position preferred over any other? Top, middle, bottom of side of frame? Any particular reason to push the swaybar into a particular orientation in the stowed position?

I thinking it doesn't make a bit of difference, but I figured I'd ask anyway!

Are swaybar clamps recommended or a solution to a non existent problem?

Mine were fine for several years, and then I noticed one was bent and I can no longer line the arm up to use it. I couldn't figure out what was going on until my buddy had it on his lift one day and I saw how much droop the front suspension has now. I don't always disconnect when off road and because of the increased travel, the bar was contacting the storage pin and it bent it out of shape. Just something to think about before you drill.

I am not sure why my setup changed, but it could be the new shocks, going from 31s to true 33s, or something else along the way.

I’ve had stock, eBay led, and for the last year the Toyota kit with Hella 80/100, the solid glass and price point is part of why they are such an attractive option but they are still halogen.

Installed the Summits, glass feels solid, seals on the back look good, and enough length on the plug.

Will post some beam pics when I duck out one night this weekend.

I need to aim them and find a dark stretch of road for a proper test, but sunset in the driveway is looking pretty good. No blue tint, good CRI, and nice differentiation between Low/Hi.

Going to head down to Christchurch in the South Island for a week to help my sister and brother-in-law renovate her house so she can sell it….
Heading down in a couple weeks. I Need to buy a new air filter today and check the Jeep out bumper-to-bumper for the 2500 mile round trip..
It will be colder than where I live but the scenery down there is epic..so worth the drive

After installing the MasterTop I have been a little confused on what I would do with the remainder of the old Mopar framework. Couldn't see myself tossing it in the trash when it's got good parts but it's basically useless without the header. I removed some of the bar work and started building a center support. Not that this is needed, but Bestop offers one with the NX top and I was curious how much of a difference it made or if it's only for weather. Either way I built a support using some of the left over scaffolding. I may try to make it permanent at a later date if all works well. Also thought about using the flip back from the OEM frame. We will see.

1st I removed the OEM support rods welded into place and then flipped the plastic end around.

Added some fabric tape for protection during testing. This took 3 cuts to get everything right. Didn't want to over cut, but I could always cut more.

It fits snug enough that I don't see it going anywhere. I'll give this a drive and see what I think. Maybe it will only benefit from rain or snow. Now to figure out how to use the remainder of this old frame.

I have two TJ's: My rock crawler LJ and a DD Sahara. I was using the Sahara as a DD for a bit, but now have a Ram 1500 as my DD. Speakers sounded like garbage in the LJ and unknown age or specs. I had put new JL 5.25" in the Sahara about a year ago, so figured I'd swap the front ones in my LJ since the Sahara will be going to my kids soon (15 yo about to get his learners permit).

The LJ apparently had 4" Polk. Moved the 5.25" JL to the LJ with no problem. Upon testing the 4" Polk in the Sahara, discovered the passenger side doesn't even work. So now wondering if that's why it sounded like crap. Unlike the simple Metra adapters on the JL, the Polk that came out of the LJ look like the have a capacitor built in to the adapter. So hoping something went bad with that odd contraption. Ordered the Metra adapters on Amazon for $10 and will cross my fingers connecting it when they arrive. Otherwise, I'll need a new set of speakers for the front, and don't really want to spend any more money on it.

Pics just because. Also because I had a laugh seeing what the PO did to trim the grilles.

Why did the PO even use grills, so he could cover it with the dash grill panel and have twice the protection? 😂

I noticed that too. I was trying to see if I could still find those speakers in case the one is broken. They don't make the 4" anymore it appears, but found the 5.25 version and looks like you can just leave the grilles off. Was scratching my head at that one since they're behind the OEM grille. Why would he leave it on, let alone spend time trimming them to fit?
