What did you do to your TJ today?

Not so much to, but with.
Our Jeep club volunteers each year to tow boats to and from the cranes at the Hampton Regatta.

Finished the long arm install and got it back on the road. Seems to ride and drive a lot better. Frame repair and axle install is on deck.

Can't wait for the cats to burn in. The smell is God awful. It is a little louder now. I'm going to say it is because of the 3rd cat not being there. It isn't obnoxious, can't hear it at speeds.

Yeah, had the cats done a year or so ago. That smell is nasty. At first, reminded me of the Seinfeld episode where the car smelled like BO.

Got it back together this afternoon and when I started it up, the fan belt was screaming like a lost demon from hell. Seems the alternator decided that it was more fun to freeze up and eat the belt. When I took the belt off a week or so ago to check the pulley bearings, it was turning just fine. Admittedly, in the five years i've owned the LJ, the alternator has always looked like it spent a few years laying in the yard out in the weather and was on borrowed time.

The new one (along with a new belt, tensioner and idler pulley) should be here Tuesday.

Did you replace the alternator with stock or one with a higher output?

I guess I'll consider myself lucky that I was born with zero sense of smell then (congenital anosmia). My ENT surgeon said that she's never heard of anyone with zero smell in all of her years as a surgeon. God was generous to me. 🙄

That's what my alternator looks like. Nasty!
Is there a good replacement or easy upgrade?
Qtec has Crown, Omix, and Mean Green.

Too soon to tell probably but does it keep it cooler? Mine is sitting in the garage.

I never had overheating issues before but the hood would get so hot u couldn’t touch it. I went wheeling this weekend with air temps in high 80s and the hood was cooler to the touch. Also my power steering pump was whining less than last time I wheeled

Had my airbag “deploy” while climbing a tricky hill at SMORR this weekend.

What actually happened is I had removed the bolts for the airbag section of the steering wheel to (hopefully) allow me to do a better job on a steering wheel wrap. I still did a crappy job, but apparently I forgot to bolt it back up. Imagine my surprise as my steering wheel is falling apart going over an obstacle.

p.s. black wire to steering wheel nut makes the horn go.

I've read something about one off of a Durango or a WJ for an easy upgrade but wasn't sure which one to go with. And my LJ is pretty much a pavement princess with the occasional trip to the backside of the place where there's some mud.

I went with a stock replacement from DB Electrical.com as I've bought some starters from them over the years and haven't had a problem with one yet. And I like free shipping. I could have got cheaper elsewhere but I still got a new one for less than a rebuilt one from O'Reilly's.

How does that cover on the wheel come off? Is it just snapped on? Been meaning to remove that airbag...

it's just two bolts that secure it. For removal, go up any number of inclines near Seymour, MO at an appropriate rate of ascent. It's like good BBQ; it'll fall right off the bone.

I just keep making progress. Baby steps but steps nonetheless. 8 hours at work 3 hours under the Jeep. 1/2 day. Put some paint on areas that were ready. Needed to take a day off from that needle scaler and grinder. I think it’s gonna look good enough to bring back in the trail and abuse.

This is the product I’m using.

Welp got a plate made up with press in studs and some aluminum stock with nutserts to have my Down4sound JP84 all nice and tucked out of the way,I wanted to do it under the seat but straps and some tools reside there so it's a no go for me !
Here's a quick look of the amp 🙂

Behind the scenes and nope it doesn't smack the steering column when it's down all the way😉

And mock up of the amp 😁 Took a pic of it before i added the 2nd tab but yall probably get the gist of it

Although this Down4sound Jp84 is awesome for its small package and power output. My dream amp would be a Audio control 4/6 channel with the DSP in it! That would be dope but anything is better than my ole JBL speaker 😆 I'm very happy with the sound I have out from my Sony double din but this amp along with a nice 8" sub would be great for me

For the sub I'm thinking about a Digital designs 8" sub or a sundown sub OR.....2 Sundown u6.5's which I like. Price wise and also performance but these Digital designs subs are very stout when being pumped with like 1800 watts......but again I'm going for SQ not full on SPL......but some Spl would be nice 😉 especially if I dabble into making a ported enclosure

Peekabo 😆 Only 1 person has seen me as a whole,Here's a sneak peek 😉
