What did you do to your TJ today?

Swapped out the transfer case indicator switch while the belly pan was off.

Installed the Savvy transfer case shifter cable that's been setting in the garage since April. FYI, this is not easy by yourself.

Got the UCF belly pan installed and the RC brackets drilled in. I had to notch the belly pan to clear the front driveshaft and the driver rear RC brackets.

If I could reorder the belly pan, I would get the middle rise one. With the RC bracket, I only gain about 1.25" instead of the full 2. I didn't weigh it before, but it is at least 1/3 the weight of the stock one.

Tomorrow the front and rear control arm brackets will be cut off and the long arms installed. The rear would be done already but the VFD had 3 medical runs this evening and now the NASCAR race is on.

Pm if you used the lopro mount and got vibes.

Uhhh, dressed up for work ......

Funny related story, my cousins parked their 240z at their property. Think rolling hills, came out to a stolen car… except it too to went for an evening low speed stroll…threading its way between the aunt & uncles parked cars through an orange grove of trees that surround the property into a small ravine- however evidence of its journey were noticeable but the car was in a still decent and drivable state.

Nothing like letting the dog out at 3AMish and finding your Jeep is not where you parked it. After my test drive late yesterday afternoon, I parked it under it's carport next to the house. Then when the dog woke me up, It wasn't there. I did a quick look around and no sign of it anywhere else on the hilltop where our house sits. I went back in the house and called 911 to report it missing.
While I was waiting for the deputy to show up, I went back out there with a brighter flashlight. Behind the house is a gentle slope going down to where there used to an old pond that had been drained about 40 years ago. Guess where I found my LJ. On the other side of it. Apparently I didn't leave it in gear like I normally do and it decided to go for a stroll down the hill, over a large rose bush, going between some good sized trees, past a phone pole and an old satellite dish, under a clothes line and across the old pond bed. I called 911 back and told them that I found it and it had went walkabout behind the house. No apparent damage and I drove it back up the hill to it's carport and set the e-brake this time.

I guess the carport isn't on as level a ground as it looks like it is.

Years ago our son drove the TJ for a few years. As we were leaving for church, I looked out the window to see if I needed to move vehicles around and I noticed one Jeep was missing. As I ran out to the driveway I noticed that the Jeep had parked itself against our neighbor's shed. Our son left it out of gear and did not set the parking brake. Fortunately our driveway has a slight S curve so as it rolled straight it went to the right of my wife's JKU and the pole for the carport. The spot it rolled down is quite steep. I could not back it out. I ended up winching it out with my wife's JKU. No damage beyond an increase in the already smashed passenger fender. My neighbor was an 80 year old coot. He laughed his butt off when I showed him the cracked board and told him how it happened. Good times.

Changed the oil and filter. Trying Valvoline 10w30 blend high mileage to see if it might help with a very slight rear main seal leak. I've been running 5w30 full synthetic, so we'll see what happens ..
I've been running Mobil 1 10w30 high mileage full synthetic and have had good results with a slight leak in my RMS. It only drips 2-3 drops every 5k miles. I think changing the valve cover gasket helped more than anything.

You guys remember the thread with a video where the kid let one go through a fence?

One lady in Chattanooga had a car disappear. Totally. Turned out it was in the community pond.

I nearly pinned myself to a building once.

Recently a truck shift linkage failed in our church parking lot- trapped a womans’ leg between a reciever and a bumper- 57 stitches or so.

I hear ya. I changed my valve cover gasket a few months back, so short of changing the RMS, this is my last shot. It is a very minor leak... A drop or so a day, so I'm hoping this does the trick. It's not hurting anything in the long run... It's just annoying.

Americans do NOT use parking brakes - its endemic!

Learned early in my driving career to always use the parking brake on any trans... Too many don't.

A few years back, I watched a truck parked at the store front roll back and slam into a car at the fuel pump. Of course - it was an automatic. Too many rely on the auto trans... It's not just us manual drivers who happen to forget to toss it in gear and/or forget the parking brake. Autos let go.

A few years back, my parking brake was weak (needed adjusting) and I parked on a sharp hill to take out at a restaurant. Someone ran in said - 'who drive the Jeep because it's rolling down the hill.'

Ran out and sure enough, you could see the Jeep moving ~4 inches every 10 seconds. Slowly backing down the hill. Quickly got in and moved to a flat spot further away on the parking lot.

To this day - I make sure I have tight parking brakes on all my vehicles...

It is awesome. Make sure you have an extra set of hands to install it. Heat on the factory torx bolts will be your friend.

Whomever invented torx bolts needs kicked in the 🥜.

Only thing is I need to order the actual tire carrier.
Can anyone tell me if 33s will clear my bumper with an OEM carrier? Or should I go with the Rugged Ridge carrier (NOT the cantilever design one) that raises it up 2”?

I know I need the snubbers tight, may have to use a wheel-spacer, wheel backspacing may affect things, etc.
I just want to know if 33s will clear the bumper with an OE carrier and the MORryde kit, no other modifications or adjustments.
